So my wife and I were out running errands this morning in our Z06 and when we came out from the store and walked toward the Z a young man asked if we would mind if he could take a picture of the Z with his daughter standing next to it as she really liked Corvettes. I said sure not a problem so he took the photo and then......I said to the young girl would you like to sit in the drivers seat she shrieked with delight. So her Dad took the pictures with her sitting in the drivers seat.....after they thanked us and off we went.
The young girl was probably 9 years old and if you could've seen her face it was Christmas in August. She'll remember that for the rest of her life as she never expected to be able to sit in it. I have no problem with being an Ambassador for America's Sports Car.
Beautiful car. Nice gesture with the little girl. Very nice of you to encourage her to enjoy the opportunity. I did a car show a couple of years ago where a small group of visually impaired folks came by. Their guide asked if it would be OK if they ran their hands over the car to get a feel for it. I of course said yes and it really brought a tear to my eyes watching them inspect the Z. We are all so fortunate to own and drive these cars. It's great to encourage the next generation to aspire to owning one some day!
I would of told them to SCAT!!! This isn't Disneyland and a photo spot.. Move along maggots!!!
Sad thing is I would of offered her a ride, but in todays world it's a No No anymore.
I went up to a family event to Idaho and everyone got together and I must of given 8 "rides" to Family members. Watching their jaw drop as the car went from 2nd to 3rd was awesome and they loved it even more.
She was so excited after getting to sit in she skipped all the way back with her dad to their truck.....made her day and that's fine with me.....her dad was grinning ear to ear as well.

I remember a similar situation a few years back but the stranger was quite a bit older. I was at a hotel in Bishop, CA on business. At breakfast, I ran into a couple in their fifties from Germany vacationing in the US (to say the Germans love Death Valley is an understatement). He saw me removing the cover from my C6 and got all excited, saying that the Corvette was his favorite car. We talked for a few minutes and then I said "Let's take it for a ride". Got it out on the open road and he was tickled pink. I asked him if he wanted to drive it, but he declined saying it was enough just to sit in the passenger seat. It certainly made my day as I am sure his. To top it off, I am sure he took this story back to Germany and told all his Porsche buddies about the awesome Corvette - made in the USA!
OK. I feel ya. I am not exactly sure what brings me more joy... driving mine or watching other people especially kids be in awe of it (which is still how I feel lol)..
here's a 3yo who Loves my Corvette. So much so everyone she walks into the garage (on the way to fill the birdfeeder and water whatever she likes as she gets her way because she melts my heart) she is fascinated by it. Always makes me open the Hood. Open the door let her sit in it and she lo as to talk to it (I flash the lights in and off for her)...
these cars are special no matter what the rest of the world thinks lol..
This was her the other day when she asked me to buy her one lol.. i offered her mine but she wants her own. .god bless her little heart. Checking a GS vert poster out behind me.

When I let the kids sit in my Vette for a photo op, I remind them that if they listen to their parents, study hard, do well in school, and get a good job, they could own their own Vette some day.
Did this just last week at a car show for Make a Wish foundation. 2 young girls representing Make a Wish with an adult came by and was looking at the Vette and wanted a picture with it. I said would you like a picture sitting in it and 2 big smiles came across their faces.
Done this with many kids some people don't understand that these kids will talk about this for years to come. My wife one time said no and you should have seen the expression on his face. When I walked up and said sure hop in you know he went home with a big smile and a story to tell.
A month ago I had a friend ask me to drive his new ferrari because he had a stroke 2 weeks after it was delivered. It was a great drive but I personally would not trade. His grandson was at the house when we returned from the drive and ask for a ride in the Z06. Gramps said sure if it's OK with you. Of course I said yes. Soon after we started rollling along the kid (maybe 10 years old) said he loves Corvetts and said this car was must better than grandpas.
He then said don't tell grandpa I said that because he paid a lot of money for his new Ferrari.
