I finally got back to VIR with my 2017 Z06/Z07 and this car is simply magic with the DSC controller, AP Racing brakes, and a good alignment. There's been a ton of slow traffic today so getting clear laps has been hard but I managed to get a fairly clean lap to rip off a 1:59.3 and then the next session I did a 1:59.6 followed by a 1:59.5 on a lap where I money shifted on the back straight. I was going for a third 1:59 but dropped two wheels exiting Oak Tree.

What really impresses me is that this is on an old set of MPSC2 tires that I've had sitting outside in the sun for over a year and used on 3 prior track days. In fact, these are the tires that were shipped on JVP's car from Bowling Green last year so maybe they were ringers from Tadge

The new DSC firmware is awesome and I am convinced that this car has 1:57's in it for sure.

Once again great driving! I think that the car will definitely be sub 1:57 with slicks.

156 sure helps that time, WOW! I've found the same with well used older cups they work great till the delamination or cords show.

So you went with racing red this time, nice. Those slower cars will see you coming better

Wow great job awsome . Go softer on rear calibration table and adj velocity to be -10 where there are +20 it will go a full sec faster on the same tire

Mike, as I try to learn how to make adjustments based on track feedback, can you explain why the above would help or make a difference based on what you saw in the video? Suspension tuning has always been somewhat of a dark art for me. I get the general premises behind it but don't often know how to make proper adjustments to correspond with track conditions.

It's really pretty amazing that Mike can watch one lap on video and tell what the car needs.

Attached is the updated pdts with the changes he suggested. I don't have a strong opinion on their effect though. The car still felt good but it was bit like being at the optometrist when they keep flipping the subtle lens changes in front of your eyes..."one... or two..."

Unfortunately the cup 2 tires were starting to go off and I got one session on the slicks in a lot of traffic (more 1:59's). It was taking a good two laps for the rears to come up to temp so trying to get a flyer on the first out lap was a little hairy.

Thanks for sharing! Yeah, I tend to agree on the difference in feel with subtle changes. Most times I can't determine if a lap was faster because of a change I made to the car or a change I made in my driving. More often than not, I just leave the car as similar as possible and work on my driving but know there are times when making a change to the shocks or sway bars could help overcome certain conditions or tendencies.

I agree. I love watching Poor-sha go and so much appreciate all the help and feedback he provides for us here. His posts are one of the biggest reasons I hang out here. But, at this point, nearly every improvement I make at the track is down to my improvement. I am not yet consistent enough to figure out what the car needs, let alone know every lap what I need to improve on. Except for the DSC module (which I could tell clearly allowed me to get on the throttle earlier) I am still on stock brakes and tires.

The old VIR file posted to the DSC site was gettin before the firmware update which changed how velocity worked. I world not use any pdts prior to 8-28 with the new firmware.

I'm finding this hard to believe but I was looking through data today playing with the Pi Toolbox and apparently I missed an even better lap time that next session. The session after I turned the 1:59.3 on Cup2 tires I turned a 1:59.06 followed by a 1:59.57. That makes the 1:59 flat a new PB on any tire for me, faster than A7s and Pirelli slicks, and puts me just hundredths of a second away from that 1:58. Now I'm really frustrated I didn't stick around for that last session on day 2.
