Thanks Chevrolet....NOT!!!!
Due to a know issue which Chevrolet has had a tsb on for a long time and has been an issue since the 5th gen Camaro was first produced My Z06 And my Dad's Zl1 both have damage that would not have occurred if Chevrolet addressed the problem when they became aware of it. Kinda like our overheating issues.
My Dads car needed to be dropped off to have the fitting for the oil cooler replaced as it was crossed threaded from the factory. Well I thought it would be cool for me to help drop my dad's car off in the Z06. On the way home the car in front of me ran over a large plastic tote and you guessed it I hit it (Not Chevys fault that I hit it but I wouldn't have been there if they fixed the problem in 2009 or 2010 before My dads 2013 zl1 was made) Did about 2k in damage and then add another 500 to have the clear bra put on after I fix the damage.
Fast forward and we go to pick my dads car up and the dealer or a customer in the dealers parking lot had slammed a door into my dads zl1 (again not chevys fault but if they fixed the problem it wouldn't have been there) about 1500 in damage because it to has a clear bra on
The dealer is paying for my dads damage but just pisses me off that a company can let issues go like that and not address them.
Ok I feel a little better ..... no not really

So the only problem that belonged to GM was a crossed threaded fitting on the oil cooler? It isn't a common problem. With all of the people who whine about things on the internet your comment is the first time I have heard of the so called cross threaded fitting issue.
Just because there is a TSB on this doesn't mean it is a common occurrence. A TSB can be a suggestion on what to look for if a mechanic encounters a certain problem. That way the diagnostic time can be reduced. The problem may only occur once in a blue moon.

I've always thought it was nice that our Corvettes are almost impervious to door dings. It's one of the things that I've really appreciated about them over the years.

thanks for not being inconsiderate
It is refreshing to not get kicked in the teeth when you have had a bad week especially when people don't know their facts about things.

The sad thing is I could have fixed my dads car myself but if I tried and the block was not repairable with just a simple rechase then my dad would have had to buy an engine cause gm would have taken the easy way out and said you touched it you own it. The jury is still out on if they fixed it.

the problem is more common then you think. It may be less common than I think but it's a problem that they knew about and they did not resolve the issue. I am an engineer for an aerospace company and when there is a manufacturing issue that comes up I engineer a cost effective solution.
I don't know the process but if it was put in by a human they knew they cross threaded it and that burns me as I deal with stuff like that on the daily basis.

And it's Dunkin' Donuts, hostess and Krispy Kreme's fault people get fat.
thats why I only eaf donuts at the donut king at Clarkson and manchester. You can't get fat shoving these donuts down your pie hole.

Not entirely knowing the actual reason car was taken to dealer. Oil leak? Technical Service Bulletins come out for all kinds of things, but don't apply to every car. Special Policy Bulletins apply to certain conditions on cars that occur at a high frequency where the warranty is extended. It's not a recall, just short of one. Recalls normally have the government involved requiring correction. Just because TSB comes out don't assume it applies to your car even if you have the condition. If the dealer said no problem found or you have to return again you can question writer or manager related to TSB that you are a ware of. Don't take car in just because you hear of a TSB if condition is actually occurring. I have seen salesmen selling repairs using TSBs to people unaware there was anything wrong with their car. They would say the TSB means their car is broken even if owner didn't know it.
