Yes, dyno gains were minimal but present: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1595628514

2017 Z. I have the catless Borla x, Mamo ported TB, Borla Atak, and now added the BMS filter. The car is strong as heck, but if I push it hard it seems to stumble, just before I shift. At first I thought I was imagining it, but it happened again today. It doesn't feel like it's hitting the rev limiter, acts like it's just choking out. Thoughts?

Try removing one of the mods, I would go with one of the easier ones like the TB or the stock replacement high flow filter. Maybe do a little research first to see which of the two is most likely the cause.

Not sure how it might be related to the filter but first thing to try might be raising the octane to see if it's timing pull. Unleaded race gas or octane booster is good for that.

Terry, thanks for the suggestion. I'm not really interested in the prospect of having to buy even more expensive gas, and there seem to be some negatives around the octane boosters. I'm willing to try this to know for sure what's going on, but more than likely I will pull the filter out and go back to stock. Given that it ran fine before it seems to be the filter that's the culprit.

Yes making less HP normally clears things like that up. It's a shame you didn't do the filter first, you'd make more power than the bolt ons, and filter alone is proven to work well over many hundreds of cars. Add enough bolt on parts and tuning may be required especially if octane isn't up to snuff.

so after reading the positive feedback today I ordered what was called a BMS filter for $89 but looking at it after ordering it's called a Spoolwerks filter but looks the same but different color. says 30 hp improvement. It of course shipped already. Is it basically the same filter or do I need to return it?

tks Ted

You got scammed, return it. Won't add power like ours will.

Well, I did the x-pipe and exhaust for purely the sound, and the ported TB to address the tip-in
hesitation. So many people with similar mods have said they had no problems adding the filter so I thought the filter would be an easy add. I guess since I like the sound and effects of the TB the filter may have to go. My car is only a year old, so tuning and voiding the warranty isn't in the cards.

Terry I took your advice and returned it and ordered the BMS filter.
2 questions

1) I'm hoping it won't throw codes. I've read that it does on some cars.
2) how many miles will it last before having to be replaced?

tks Ted

My 16Z M7 has BMS and Mamo TB, makes 589hp and 612tq. Awesome easy cheap mods.

I'm a skeptical as them come, doubt everything I hear from a company about gains from a CAI or a filter but read so many positive things about the BMS. Installed today and to my surprise, the filter is really good. Throttle response is much improved and I'm not doubting some HP increase. On my first test out when I got to an area to have fun I'm in sport mode, second gear and just having the typical fun that I'm used to. All the sudden there is no power, I'm quickly thinking what the F did I mess up, look at the dash and Mary Poppins had taken the power down. I know my car and the type of throttle input I had would have never had Mary step in so hard for so long (although she car be weird sometimes) so I have to give credit to the throttle response and power bump. Really a 2 thumbs up mod for the money. Thinking about a ported TB s well, 17 M7 Z06. As Ted was asking will the combo be a no no.

I have used both the Haltech and AFE CAIs, On my current 2018 I went with the BMS drop in, which in my opinion feels just as strong as the others costing hundreds more. Highly recommend the BMS filter.

Looks like another success story for BMS!

I already had a katech PTB and a borla xpipe prior to this mod. And i been kicking the idea of putting a better filter or just leaving whatever filter GM put. These cars are pretty efficient in making power from the factory so i didn't want to touch what wasn't broken. But like all car people, we can't just not touch our cars lol.

So i took the chance and got the BMS in fear i would finally throw a code given this the last of the big 3 mods you can do before you have to start tuning the car for mods etc.

I installed it yesterday but didn't get a chance to drive it. Today i did. Did a 50 mile trip. Varying RPM's, engine loads etc.

I didn't really "feel" any increase in power and/or torque but i didn't go WOT once yet. I gave about max 50% throttle input. It was raining this morning and was drizzling when i left to go drive so that's why i couldn't do any WOT pulls.

So far it feels good. I "think" the rpm's climb smoother but that might be placebo.

Anyway for those throwing codes, when did it for you? Right away? After 50 miles? 100? After a couple of run cycles?

I wanna be happy i don't have a code yet but at the same time i don't want to be surprised next time i take my car out, which would be next weekend lol.

Either way i'm happy.

Glad to hear it! Several hundred of these out in the wild now and we've only had a handful of customers who had code issues. So I think we hit the fine line between increased performance and having to retune the car.
