Any idea what this is on my paint?
I've had an area on my trunk lid that looks almost tarry. I wash my car and a soapy mitt gets it off. When it's clean the paint underneath looks fine. Then, the spot gradually comes back over the next few days.
When you look at the pictures, the front of the car is to the left. The pics are before and after.
You'll also see a bit of black gunk in the crack between the body and trunk lid. That's a bit of Dynamat I need to clean off.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I recently read the below thread where the OP had a similar mark that appeared under his Xpel (2nd pic). Maybe he can provide some insight regarding his findings. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...k-on-xpel.html

That's my car with the xpel and burn mark. Installer says it looks like a cigarette burn. Mine doesn't come out at all though..
I've got so many small dots on my xpel just from the 20 mile drive home from the installer that I regret getting it. Yes, it may have saved my bumper but it was going to and from the shop when it got the damage!
I thought xpel was known for self healing. Every little thing to hit my front has left a mark.
