8-900HP wheel and drag radial recommendations for street and strip?
I have a built LT1 in a non Z06 that puts down 830HP. I will be adding fender flares to the body which will allow me to run Z06 width wheels on the car because I need more traction.
Currently I run 19" black replica Z51 wheels with Nitto NT05R 305/35/19 on them with stock Z51 wheels and stock run flat MPSS tires up front. They are decent from a 50+ roll on the street, but that's too high of a start mph for my preference. Initially on this setup the rear end would feel like it swayed at high speeds. After they have been used a little bit and run with a bit more air pressure (~30 psi) they do not sway anymore up to about 140MPH.
My goal is to find a wheel and DR combo that I can run on both street and strip, that will have the following qualities:
- **Combo Must be stable up to 150-160MPH**
- Needs to be something that can be run at the strip and get decent lauches (~1.4 60 ft)
- Needs to be DOT approved as I will use this setup for the street as well (yes I know they won't last long mileage-wise)
- Wheels need to be available in black or black chrome
For wheels, this is where I am at with options:
1. Black Z06 replica's in 18" - 18"x9.5" fronts and 18"x12" rears
My concern with this setup is weight as the replica's are a bit heavy
2. 18" RaceStar's - 18"x8.5" fronts and 18"x10.5" rears
My concern here is the rears are only 10.5" wide and I REALLY want to take advantage of my new ability to run full width Z06 sized wheels.
3. Black Z06 replica's in 19" - 19"x12" rears, OEM or replica fronts.
If I do this, I retain existing width as my current setup, but rear rims would be 2" wider on each side.
For tires I obviously already have experience with the Nitto's and can assume that moving from 305's to 345's I would get some better traction.
Other tires that are being considered are:
Mickey Thompson ET Street SS or ET Street R's. I hear these wander around a lot at high speed
Toyo R888R's
and some form of Hoosiers
Please let me know what setup you run for tires and wheels -IF- you are 800+ HP, and how fast you have had the setup without the rear end swaying back and forth. Thanks!

If you're talking 830 rwhp I would consider a Weld or comparable drag pack with 17" x 4.5" up front and 15's out back. It will cost you some $ to accommodate this, but no 18" or 19" dr is going to hook as well as a 15" dr, IMO.

15" are not wrinkle walls. They are still drag radials (unless you actually buy slicks)
What you want is near impossible. Drag radials that like street use, but then are able to cut a 1.4 don't mix. Problem most people don't discuss is drag radials heat cycle out fast when street driven. After ~1000-1500 miles, they don't hook well at all. To get good track performance, they should be kept to track only, and a fresh set. They typically harden and become useless far before you run out of tread.

I knew full and well this is a tall order, but im not looking for the perfect tire and wheel combo. Im looking for a combo that meets my overall requirements -decently- as my goal is to not buy 15 setups before I find what im looking for lol

In that case problem solved Nitto drag radials in the smallest wheel size you can fit without conversion. Just know that at lower speeds they will not hold but on street out of rolls you'll be fine just find the sweet spot (speed) that you know they hold and your gold.
Avoid dig races and you'll be fine. I had too many people want digs plus I got bit by the 1/4 mile track bug henceforth the conversion and 15's. I still have a set of replicas with 19" DR's for street and OEM's with runflats for trips.

Weapon X I believe is a CF vendor. They offer an 18" Forgeline drag set-up that might work for you.
Talk to Ben or Eddie, both guys are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

What I'd like is to find something inbetween my Nitto NT05R's and a 15" conversion setup. Seems like theres not much inbetween though..

I make in the range your asking about, ive recently sold my 18" replicas... Wanted something a tad lighter and different. Plus the stock rims are a pain in the *** to clean.
Anyway, ive replaced them with another 18" setup, forged. Plan on running the same 345 Mickey.
They are stable past 150, but ive also replaced my front tires with Contis, ditched the stock runflats.
Grip is good on the streets, car still feels safe when taking off ramps at speed etc... But a 1.4 60' may not be attainable unless you drop a conversion in the rear. I'm content with the setup at 1.6 ish 60 foots off the Mickeys.

And thats why im asking around lol. How does the 15" setup feel at higher speeds and how fast has anyone had them? Can I expect to get a few thousand miles out of them before I am due for a new set?

18 or 17" ET Streets are decent options in between, and better than the 19" nt05, but still don't meet your needs.
My car trapped 192.8mph in 1/2 mile on 15s. Zero stability issues.

My 15s are more stable than my 18s. I've run 4-5k on them, no issues. They hook 1200rwhp decent for first ~2 days and few hundred miles, then have to pedal 1st and 2nd once they heat set. Still much better than the 18s. Good thing is 15" DRs are about 50% less cost wise than 18s so if you go through 2 sets a year, that adds up quick.

1 - do a 15" conversion to the car
2 - Buy an 18" setup for the street / roll racing
3 - Buy a 15" setup for the strip
I think this is my best bet to check all my boxes. Its not the cheapest solution, but I fully understand paying to play.
Unreal, what wheels and tires do you use for your 15" setup?

Street setup is 18" forgestars front and rear. 15" setup is weld RTS.
My car is a c6 FWIW. Just call Caryle for 15" stuff. He is the goto source for wheels/tires/spindles/etc

15 inch wheel on C7 Z06
What are the changes that need to be made to run a 15 inch rear wheel on the C7 Z06?
