Weird Noise In Transmission M7
Hi there
Car stats:
2016 Z07 3LZ M7
6000 miles
Bought it brand new
Everything on the car runs good from the beginning of owning it... its a weekend car and when i drive it, i dont really get on it hard... its like a cruising car mostly.
I did stall it many times cuz it is my first manual car and sometimes i shift to the wrong gear it happened before but now im good at it...
What happened with me and what cause me the problem i believe is... the no-lift shift or maybe not, i cant judge...
I did a couple of pulls each pull different day... maybe 2 pulls same day... mostly on third gear or second the car really wakes up its a damn beast... what i did is that i was in third... pulled and shifted to 4... from 4 to 5 i made a mistake and got it in 7.... the rpm stuck up in 7 revving hard, i press the clutch again and pulled it out....
After that everytime i shift to 7 in highway i feel sometimes wrong in the gear, strange sound, its like metals touching each other, it doesnt shift smoothly, also sometimes it dont shift, it stucks and car revs like in neutral, i have to pull it back and re-shift it.
This happened maybe 3 times on no-lift-shift, gas pedal all the way in and only clutch and shift.
And sometimes when i try to shift from 1 to 2, it gets out and makes a weird sound....
I went to the dealer car got warranty and its bone stock... dealer called back and said they had to pull the transmission out to check whats going on...
Is it werid? Car is brand new... even if i did shift it wrong, i know it can damage the gears... but daaamn only pulled few times!
I believe it has sometimes to do with no-lift-shift and missing the gear together! Before when im pulling it i just lift my foot off gas pedal, hit clutch, shift. with no problem at all.
Just tell me what do you think guys

Turn 12!
For crisper shifts, you should install an MGW Shifter. Awesome!

Sounds like your shift mistake damaged the transmission. While NLS is a cool idea, it’s really unnecessary and as you’ve now learned, opens the door for trouble if you screw one up. Just shift normally. Also it’s great GM covered your learner transmission under warranty.
