WEAPON-X installs the first 2.9L Whipple on a C7 Z06
#41
We’ve all been waiting on the LT4 dry sump Z blower kit to finish completion! We worked directly with Whipple on the first LT4 wet sump R&D testing, where we’ve conservatively hit 875whp on our Mustang dyno on a stock bottom end and 920whp on a built bottom end.
Until the Z kit is out, we had an opportunity to use one of those LT4 wet sump blowers on a C7 Z06 in the meantime! Collin has been talking to us for awhile about his C7 Z06, having a nasty high HP ZR1 and wanting more out of the C7. He finally had time to make a trip down from Canada to have his C7Z be the first to get this blower
We’ll have a full build thread done shortly, but in the meantime, here are a few pics of the blower product on the car. Shortly, it will have our custom billet valve covers and a few other mods for a stage 1 and upgraded to our X1000 package soon!
Enjoy a few

Per communication with Ben, car was running out of fuel. Cam swap should remedy the situation.
I'm interested to see the next dyno pulls.

Is the cam a custom grind or an off-the-shelf product that would be generally available and are you willing to reveal its specs. Any modifications to the heads, valve springs, etc. Thanks

This thread makes me happy. Finally getting closer to the build I've wanted since I got my Z06! Looking forward to the full mod list, dyno results, and pricing.
My C7Z will have a Whipple on it!

Hell, my 2017 is no faster than my stock C6Z around the track on a hot day due to it pulling so much timing. I would think more power won't be able to be utilized since even current power is stifled due to poor heat management?

I think heat will be the bigger problem? My 2017 with the "enhanced" cooling mods from GM driven hard on track still goes into limp mode on on 90+ degree days. I'm not sure I'd get more than 2 laps with the added power from the 2.9L blower?

If you add some coated AR headers to the Z06. They reduce weight
by removing the stock heavy manifold and cat combo as well as remove a ton of underhood heat. Seems it would help at the track
Weighed only 3390 full of fuel with cups wheels non runflat tires and headers. Only issue was the tires I went back to the stock MPSS.
The C6Z06 with headers move well.
they make right at 500 rwhp ENJOY better gearing, and reduced weight over the C7Z and I was surprised the C6Z my friends car was just off my 2015. Running 10.98's to my Z06's 10.90's at the track. Pretty close.
The 2.9 whipple doesn't seem to be a mod for track cars.
But when one shows up on you tube putting the smackdown on the street on the new ZR1 it will fun. But the ZR1 should be the ultimate track car.
