Have 17 z06 did my first oil change at 500 now have 1200 miles. I was at a event this weekend and met several z06 owners and they told me to change my oil again at 1500 miles on a z06. The chev dealer told me to do the next oil change at 5000 miles or one year. Which is correct.

No harm in doing it more frequently.

What dealer said is more than adequate; more frequently is a waste of time and oil. Since my ‘15 got 4 free in its first 2 years, I did them; last time remaining oil life said about 2% after a coast to coast round trip. I usually think about it once the computer says remaining oil life is 30% or less.

I did five oil changes in 8,000 miles. One at 500 miles and thereafter whenever the monitor dropped to 10% or less. Personally, I would pay attention to the oil life monitor and change the oil accordingly. There's no way I could go 4500 miles between oil changes -- I use lots of revs per mile that drive the monitor down fairly rapidly.

Go by the OLM. No need to change it any more often that what it tells you to change it. You have to change it at least once per year per GM but there is no set mileage as everything is determined by the OLM.

What kind of event were you participating in? A track event? The rules are a little different for track events since you need to change to M1 15W50 oil for track use.
