Default C7 ZR1 front clip swap to C7 Z06 thread

Looking at the pictures looks like fender/hood/bumper will swap right onto our c7 z06s. Since mine is a z07 option car im like screw it ill change the front.

As part numbers come out i will update this thread with them and info to help other guys like me that want to do the switch over

I will never think about the swap. The Z06 has its own unique looks (front bumper grill, front fenders, hood, etc.) and a 650hp S/C LT4 engine. Z06 owners should be proud of what they own and don’t want their Z06’s to look like a ZR1 or anything else.

I think it was JVP who commented that they will likely fit the Z06 but will be extremely expensive. Need 2 new fenders, a new hood, the shaker for the hood and the new front bumper + splitter...My guess would be well over $10,000. But time will tell.

I think people are doing mainly for cooling purposes, not to be like the ZR1.

However, it seems like it would be pretty expensive especially if you wanted to add the ZR1 underwing. Will keep watch on this thread.

Will the parts fit? Probably, yeah. But when you're done with putting the hood in place, you're going to have big, gaping hole right over the intercooler cover of your LT4. That hole is filled in with the CF engine cover on the LT5, complete with seals to help with aero.

I don't think this is going to end well. And it's going to cost you a fortune, to boot.

Buy a new car, instead.

It won't cost nearly the difference of trading in for a $130k base zr1 + options + first year dealer markup lol

But yea, the only thing I like is the hood but the giant hole poses a problem.

I would imagine doing this would be useless if you did not include all the new coolers that the ZR1 has.

There will soon be ZR1 lookalike bumpers available from aftermarket vendors which will replace the Z06 bumpers and probably enhance cooling.

True and thats the way to go.
I know Ivan Tampi who specializes in this type of work and won SEMA with his C7 wide body design is working on it.

I really find this topic interesting. All the people who are now going to jump on this for reasons of better cooling, why? If it were for those reasons then why haven't you gone to LG and gotten their setup over the last couple of years? I know everyone here has not been sitting around waiting for the ZR1 so they could swap out body parts. Plus I think GM used the LG setup as their model.

Just replying to the guy wondering why people didn't just go with the LG vents instead of waiting for the ZR1 bumper. The ZR1 bumper looks a lot better than the LG vents.

So if the ZR1 never came out you all would just live with the issues you have? I still think it is posing to me. Kind of like the guys that by big brake caliper covers to put on stock brakes. While no performance is gained by this unlike the ZR1 parts its still tacky IMO. But to each his own.

Because a lot of us are scraping by with cooling modifications that work to a degree, but do not include any unsightly new holes in the front bumper, such as the Gspeed no-cut package. It's also an OEM solution to a major engineering deficiency on the C7Z which many of us believe should have been corrected by now.

If the ZR1 front bumper fits and looks as good as it does, and offers additional side cooling with two more heat exchangers over or in addition to these packages, then it seems like a good possible addition to me. There is no comparison here to someone who tries to fake big brakes.

Agreed....I believe the Tikt solution is the best looking, a nice big mouthed grill but pricey ($10k+install). If swapping everything over from the ZR1 cant be done any cheaper then I'm not sure it's a win.

I really like the hood set up myself. If some one made a fully functional hood for the regular LT4/Z06 body lines like it, I'ld be very interested. Maybe for the Whipple as well since that might be in my future.
