Default C7 and Z06 owners, tell me why I should walk away...

Last chance for good reason/common sense to prevail. Have a base '09 2LT M6 convertible and looking to trade for a new A8 Z06 convertible. Trading a daily driver for a daily driver (zero track intentions for now with a rag-top) but obviously the new car is in a completely different league.

Great price on the new Z06, any regrets from the previous C6 owners?? Pretty sure how this conversation will go but asking anyway!

Yes, fishing for reasons against but giggling like a school girl at the prospect of a new 'Vette....

I can't think of a good reason NOT to do it. Maybe the MT for the A8, but otherwise, that's just a personal choice of yours.

Never thought I'd say it but the auto is a draw for me. I have owned a manual transmission in some car I've had for my entire adult life and enjoy the M6 in my current car. The enjoyment wears thin in (DC) traffic and seems the new autos are pretty capable when they aren't overheating or eating torque converters

Had a C6 Z06 .... it doesn't even compare at all to the C7 Z06. Everything is so much better with the C7 Z06.

My dad has a C7 Z51 Vert and aside from the Z06 looking better on the exterior, the low end torque is A LOT better on the Z06. It's so much fun even just to 4500-5K RPM

I do understand that MT in stop-and-go traffic. Quite the pain, for sure.

Then going from a "base" C6 w/LS3 would be quite the leap!

Guessing you're not an advocate for walking away?!

Yikes, the last place I would want a manual would be in D.C during rush hour.

I have a 2016 A8 Z.
My A8 has been flawless and is very smooth in auto mode.
I usually use the paddle shifters everywhere except the freeway.
Reports of this transmission being inherently faulty is greatly exaggerated.
If you're not going to track the car, it's a no-brainer.

Just the cold start in the Z06 when the exhaust is set to track mode would make you buy the car, intoxicating.

Never thought that I would ever give up my C6 Z. Had just ordered and mounted new raised white letter F1's that were the coolest looking
though-backs . . . that I ended up only putting 30 miles on.

Took the plunge after strolling through the showroom while waiting on my ride home. Miss the M6, the throaty 427 and the classic C6 lines. After 30days though, the C6 is now a great transitional memory that one day I'll probably wish that I had hung onto - also . . . Also!!!

This new C7 is awesome, a totally different car and a totally different experience. An A8 vs the M6, the supercharged engine, the sound, the ride, the electronics, the sophistication just simply can't be compared.
The 650hp vs the 505hp has to be experienced !

DO IT !!! I can promise you - you won't look back !!!

My C7 Z06 is the nicest Corvette of the 8 I've owned (2 C6).

I sold my 08 ZO6 last June and bought a new 2017 ZO6 A8. I absolutely love the 08 and never thought I would want an automatic Corvette. I really like the automatic . The car is crazy fast but very docile when you want it to be. The 2017 is so much better in every way than the 08. If you haven't driven an automatic make sure you do before you decide on which transmission to get. My only gripe about both cars is too much road noise. Pull the trigger you're going to love it.

No regrets here. Traded my '09 M7 Z07 for a '15 Z07 A8. The cars aren't really in the same class...

I daily drive a C7 Z51 vert.

I was thinking about selling it and daily driving the C7 Z06 vert.

For me I believe my best daily driver would be a C7 GS vert. The spirited and aggressive manner in which I drive makes the 465 HP LT1 a better choice for me as it requires less attention. That way on the days I am driving bad with too little focus I don't do something stupid.

Stupid in the Z06 puts you sideways a lot.

Stupid in the Z51 is way more forgiving.

For now I will continue to daily the C7 Z51 vert. If I find a good deal on a C7 GS vert I may trade it in.

Loved my 2007 C6 Z06. Replaced with my 2016 A8 Z06. Both cars were great. Certainly like the 650 hp, now upgraded to 710. The much lighter weight, 3,150 (I weighed it), is always going to be a sizable factor when it comkes to handling in tight turns. Remember, magnetic shocks came out in the 2008 Z06 so I can't compare a 2008 to my current ride.
Most probably would have still leaned toward the 2016 although it would have been a close decision.

I went from a C6 Z51 to a C7 Z51 and now a C7 Z06.

In my opinion the C7 in any form is a step above the C6. If you have the ability to go to a C7 I would highly recommend test driving one and you will be able to see for yourself.

With that being said I have only had the Z06 for a little over a week and the Z06 is a beast of a machine that you have to be careful with how you use it. In the Z51 if you floor it you may spin the tires in the Z06 you will be going sideways.

Went from an 08 f55 npp A6 to my 16 Z06 A8. It's a huge leap

for a daily? Idk is rather have narrower tires and slimmer body. This thing has a fat *** the tires are big bucks and the regular narrow body rides way better with mag ride.

just my opinion. My 08 mag ride felt like a Cadillac compare to this lol. I love it but I don't daily it. 3500mi in a year. Not enough time!
