Default ZR1 blower on a Z06?

I was hoping since way before the release of the ZR1 that GM would build the platform with the ability to swap engine parts such as the blower to the Z06.

Has anyone been able to get info as to if the ZR1 blower will fit?

It would be nice if we could swap in the blower with a aftermarket hood, tie in the port injection with a aftermarket ecu and have the boost and fuel in some what factory form.

I have yet to find any info.

What's everyone think?

I think that Callaway has already successfully pulled this off.

I think they added the 2300 same size that was on the C6ZR1.

The ZR1 2.65 blower is not out till late summer 2018 and may not fit under the hood. They make a 2300 that is plug and play for the Z06.
I have one coming. It seems like a great choice. To spin the rear wheels just like a ZR1 will. I have added hp to 636 rwhp plus a PTB on an M7. The power is hard enough to put down. Is dangerous to a average driver. Will be plenty of smashed up ZR1's for sale!

To answer your question.

The blower will fit the engine fine. Of course you will have to modify the hood.

Additionally I think I read the ZR1 fuel system operates at a higher PSI.
Not sure if the stock Z06 is up to the task. However based on the what the after market is doing with the stock Z06 system you should probably be ok.

Also keep in mind the ZR1 has better cooling to deal with the additional power. So for hard sustained running you would need to address this as well.

I dont have my notes here in front of me but I think the ZR's camshafts are different and if I am not mistaken I recall something about the ZR being both port and direct injection.

So I suppose technically it will fit, but I am not sure exactly what issues will arise and need to be resolved. If I were a betting man I would say its close to plug and play, just expect more heat and a shortened lifespan of all internal components.

I don't see why it wouldn't fit as the lt5 is nothing but a Lt4 with the bigger blower on top minus some additional stuff to supply it more fuel and stuff.

Since it is so much taller, you will be force to buy a taller hood. Just saw on the interwebs today, this dude created a bad *** looking hood that could accommodate this

We don't, as the Callaway GenThree Triplecooled supercharger is purposely left exposed for benefits of covective cooling, or heat exchange from airflow over the surface of our housing.

You are right on the savings!! Thanks

Check again the 2.65 EATON beats the 2.9 whipple. Or at least Eaton claims it DOES to read the Maggy website!!

Yep... Whipple is still working on the 5.0 Mustang 2.9 kits....they don't seem to have much interest in "finishing" the C7Z 2.9 system.... If we see it at any point next year, I'll be surprised.

The 2650 will be the bread winner....eventually.

Considering the Z06's problem with cooling and what it takes to cure it, better off to just buy a Callaway or ZR1 and skip the hassle.

Reviving an old thread. Now that the zr1 2650 is out, who has had luck swapping one to a z06, or what hurdles might one encounter? I realize it is a double pass cooling system vs single as on the z06.

what other hurdles are there? Has anyone ported one of these blowers yet?

does anyone know the max flow numbers vs the 2.9 whipple? Thanks.

Engines are about the same minus the the 2650 and port injection. Zr1 has a bigger keyway on the crank to hold the pulley.

I doubt it ! People will buy the aftermarket blowers! Stock GM blowers are heavy weight tanks. Aftermarket blowers form Maguson are superior.

Right, the magnuson 2650 blower that has not been released yet. Superior.

We are looking for data and real world experience on the zr1 blower that does exist. We don't follow you around and reply to all of your posts.

you seem to think we enjoy reading the obvious from you over and over and over.
