Default Oil change necessary before putting it away for the winter

Hello, looking for advice, I have a 17 Zo6, I live in the NE, (Boston) I did the 500 mi oil change and I now have 1800 mile on it. I am getting ready to put it away for the winter, should I change the oil on it again before I put it away? I only put on 1300 miles since the last oil change, what would you guys do? I don't think it would do any harm to just put it away and change it in the spring but that's my opinion, I would be interested to hear what other would do. Thank you.

Oil is fine now and will be fine in the spring.

You'll probably get many different answers to your question. I've stored cars for many years and always change the oil before I put them away for the winter. Just my personal preference. In my opinion, frequent oil changes are cheap insurance.

I agree, I would change my oil every 3-4 thousand miles, but on my vet i never get to that point just curious how often you change your oil on your Zo6. Thanks

I change mine before I put it away for the winter each year. Easy to remember and it has fresh oil while in storage and fresh oil ready to go for the next driving season.

When the Oil Life indicator shows 10%, not by miles, but by time regardless of miles is how it is tracked by this technology.

Mine got fresh oil yesterday. The high was 64 and the forecast highs out for the next 10 days are in the 30s so mine is washed, waxed, and covered up for the winter with the battery maintainer plugged in.

Oil with some miles on it is probably OK for winter storage but operating the engine generates contaminants. The price of oil and a filter is cheap enough I am in the better safe than sorry camp for winter storage.

I always store it washed, waxed, covered, tendered and with fresh oil and filter. Come Spring, the only thing I want to do is start driving right away.

I have 1600 on mine. I plan on pulling mine out in the Spring and will most likely get mine changed around August.

the best thing you can do for your engine is change the oil before you put away for the winter. the thing that I like to do for the injectors is put Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas.

which oil would you rather have in your car for the winter ?

Olive oil appears better than 1000 mile motor oil, should I run it instead?

only if you're going to cook with it.

I would not change the oil until it is due for a change. That is what I have been doing over the years and have not had a problem. If I catch a good day during the winter I take mine out for a ride too. I usually manage to get one ride per month. If I do get it out I just take it easy in consideration of the tires in the cold weather.

What is this "putting it away for the winter" you speak of?

I really like Marvel Mystery Oil, good product, I never added it to my fuel on the Zo6, I was concerned it would screw up the injectors. I guess my question is if you have 1300 mi on your oil is that considered old and necessary to change or is it still considered fresh. Thanks.

I bought my '18 Z06 at the end of June. I did the 500 mile oil change and just did another a month ago when I stored the car for the Winter at 2000 miles (1500 on oil) . For many years I have always heard that it is better to store your car with fresh oil, so that is what I have always done. I will not start the car till I am ready to put it on the road in the Spring. I will run this oil until next November when I will be storing it again.

Take a sample and send to blackstone. They will actually tell you the condition of your oil, not wives tales.
