Is it wrong to be happy that the C7Z06 has the best 0-60 and 1/4 mile time ever?

Is it wrong to be happy that the C7Z06 has the best 0-60 and 1/4 mile time ever?
I know with all the overheating talk about the C7 Z06 being one of the best track performing Corvettes ever. Wouldn't almost every Corvette made prior to the C7 Z06 overheat ANYWAYS if pushed too the limit of the cars capabilities? MY question is it wrong to be happy that the C7 Corvette is the fastest Corvette ever built when it pertains to 0-60 and 1/4 mile times at least until the new C7 ZR1 hits the street but to be THE SECOND FASTEST FACTORY STOCK CORVETTE in 0-60 and 1/4 mile times ever is still AWESOME even after the ZR1 hits the road! I am proud of my Z06 CAPABILITIES are you guys!

You are absolutely right to be deleriously happy, Dave. As I am. Extraordinary performance at a (semi) reasonable price. And let me suggest a way to really understand the feel of that performance: Ride in the passenger's seat when someone else (skilled at driving performance cars) runs it flat out through the gears. When I am driving, in control and accelerating hard, I am not as aware of the performance as I am as a passenger because I am concentrating too much on the actual driving.
The other day, on my last day with the Z06 out before storage. I had a regular lunch with a friend who is also my ZR-1 engine builder and ZR-1 worldwide expert, Marc Haibeck. He also owns a modified C6 ZR1 (737 HP) but loves to drive my car every time I come down because he is so impressed with the automatic. (We seem to be eating farther and farther away each time to allow for longer drives). After lunch he was driving through a somewhat deserted industrial park where he often test drives ZR-1s, and he nailed it through three gears. I can report that I have no idea how fast he went but the acceleration as so impressive that if literally took my breath away and I temporarily had tunnel vision. While it only lasted a couple of seconds, all I could see was the stop sign way up ahead, wondering if he could stop in time (he did). Whew! So, Be Happy! --Bob

Be Happy
Be happy with the C7 Z06 Corvette it's the fastest Corvette ever built when it pertains to 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. With a few bolt ons you have a 9.90 1/4 mile car that even an novice can drive, thanks to the advance traction controls.

That being said, if I win the lottery I would probably buy one just because. And I'd be bidding against Rick Hendrick at Barrett-Jackson for the first ones. LOL

The overheating issue wouldn't bother me, because I will never take my car to the track. Just a few spirited runs from time to time. I think the thing that sets Corvette apart is value. From a base car to a Z06, the Corvette really has no competition.
To answer your question about overheating, a naturally aspirated car really should not overheat that way. So all of them do not overheat. But for me, it wouldn't matter. I currently own a C6, but the C7 Z06 is very tempting because they made it in the convertible body style.

Some people that drive 4WD/AWD vehicles seem to think they will never get stuck in snow too.
There are also lots of 12-13 sec. Z06's running around because the owner simply doesn't know how to extract all of that power and put it to the ground.

Nope nothing wrong with loving your Z06!
You need the A8 to claim the quickest. Then the A8 will rein even in the ZR1. Z06 A8 will be a tough race for a M7 ZR1.
60 foot times are tough with the M7 then the ZR1 platform with even wider front tires and less weight on rear is not doing better.
Z06 A8 will rule all but the ZR1 A8! In the 1/4 mile!

I already sense peoples insecurities about not having the "TOP" car beginning to surface. Murica....smh.
I'm pretty sure that even if you own a base model C7, you still have a pretty damn great performance car versus the gen pop...so, it's ok. ZR1 shouldn't demasculanize anyone...your Corvette that you own, even if it's a 77 with 180hp...is plenty good as long as you enjoy it.

OP, I agree with you! I absolutely am loving my 2017 Z06. I've gone to the 1/4 mile strip, bone stock down to the tires and run back to back to back runs in the mid-low 11's as crappy as a driver that I am. On the street you are just unbeatable, so being that it is the second fastest corvette ever made, I'm thrilled every time driving my Z06, it is just awesome...

At the strip with the A8 it doesn't matter, first time driver's have some fast times. The M7 requires the skills and due to poor gearing is not as fast period because of the poor 60ft which is key to fast 1/4 mile! Where with the A8 not so much!

Might want to check your reading because no. Only the with the M7
does the driver have a huge impact.
This forum is full guys who buy an A8 and all of a sudden they are expert 1/4 mile guys! When they have same car as the rest of the A8's ! But they are so special and their car has become faster than ALL the rest.
That no other driver could take there car and be at the same place and time and duplicate the result.
Well they can and do! We can meet and do a I-5 run for money. Me and my M7 and you in your A8! I'm not that far away!
Your car is so fast should be no worries you have the 1/4 mile time!

I sense guys feel the z06 is the better street car.
I sense guys feel this is the Z06 section. The place to talk about the Z06!
I sense guys with no Corvette posting in these threads talking about the ZR1 may demasculanize some Z06 owner!
The insecurities stuff can be left at the door. Most anyone who paid cash for the Z06 can buy a ZR1 but maybe just maybe they fail to see the wisdom in doing so! When the Z06 is the better looking and more practical street car.
IMO!

Truth hurts you doesn't it! Anyone including a 16 year boy can do a fast
run in a Z06 A8 at the track. It is not hard!
Look at the fast list threads first time driver's making fast times!
Your not fooling anyone remember I own an A8 as well. To say it takes an expert to get a fast time is plain silliness!
