Default MT 305/35R18 compared to 345/35R18 on 18X12 weight.

I have replica 18X12 chrome wheels (heavy) with the ET Street SS 305/35R18 MT drag radials which are about bald, so I weighed one on my electronic bath scale. It weigh 60.5 lbs.

Then I had the ET Street SS 345/35R18 MT's installed on the same chrome rims, these tires fill the rim out better due to being wider. I put one on the same scale and now the rim & new tire weigh 68.5 lbs.

That's a 16 lb. increase for the rear wheels/tires. I got a feeling that's going to slow me down.

Everything that I have done to this car since new has added weight.

Example: I took off my light Stage 1 front splitter but added aftermarket side shirts. Then I added OEM chrome wheels and removed the lighter OEM silver ones, next I added a transparent roof which also weighs more than the stock carbon fiber, etc.

PS: But overall I have liked everything I changed.

I agree 26lbs for the 335/30r18 Hoosier with nylon belts vs the 345/35r18 M/T at 36lbs.

OP curious what it ran with the 305s? Rolling resistance is less, but was traction a problem?

If the car is dead hooking with the smaller lighter tire I think you are correct that it will slow down with the taller heavier tire. The Hoosier 315-30-18 is a very light tire.

Default I went with MT for the tread design & they do stick.

It 'always' hooked on the 305s. With the stockers sometimes it would hook with good track prep and at other times it would not, however when it did hook with the stockers it would put down the same 60' times i.e. 1.53 with no spin. The car has been 10.4 with the 305s (and stockers).

MT site has the weight of the 305 listed at 33 lbs. and the 345 at 38 lbs. I believe. The 'one' good thing about the larger tire is that it fills out the look of the chrome rim/wheel well better and due to the larger size I may not even have to do a burnout at all to hook these everytime.

The one thing that I'm getting ready to do is to go for a ride to see if the taller height of these tires mess with the electronics.

I have 19" replica rims with nitto tires that I weighed and also weighed 68.5lbs. I also have forgestar 18" with Hoosiers that weighed 51.8lbs which is about 17lbs lighter each rim and tire for a total of 33.6lbs which should make a difference at the track
