Is the Z06 a legit Supercar?
#181
Of course, I also do not want to say I have the ultimate definition of what a Supercar is, but perhaps, a simple question could help:
are there half ton pickup trucks sold with the same engine architecture / engine family?
Although, if I think about it, that would not only take the Corvette and the Viper off the list, but unfortunately also the 06 FGT, OH, and also the current FGT...

It's obvious that after 181 posts, now 182, no one will change their view of what a Corvette is or isn't. I got sidetracked with some derogatory comments made. I've wasted enough time on this.........

I could state more but those are the obvious ones.
Anything else? Still think the Z is a supercar? Well you can think all you want, but truth is, it isn't

If the FGT is so is the Z06. Both the C6Z and 2005-2006 FGT were close cars and so are the newer versions, the only difference is price. It is kind of crazy the C6Z outperformed the older FGT in some tests due to power to weight. The FGT also put down higher rwhp than rated as well lol. The newer GT is slightly faster around a roadcourse than a C7Z and looks cool. Heritage and every year hyping up the FGT around Lemans time helps the FGT continue to grow in value. Mass production of the Vette hurt it. In the end, I consider both supercars. The Viper, Z06/ZR1, FGT, and Saleen S7 to me are America's supercars. I may be missing a couple but those are supercars to me.

I have a 2018 z06 2lz auto with PDR that has an MSRP of $89,570. I cant afford a supercar but if I could it would be an Aventador SV and I am pretty sure it wont come from the factory with a creaky roof and paint coming off the bumper like my z06 did. Definitely no "Super" car. Just a fast chevy with problems you dont find even in a $20k KIA

No it's not. Performance is up there though. But seriously, calling it a supercar is putting it in the company of Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari Testarossa, Bugatti Veyron, McLaren F1... The stuff of dreams and legend. The corvette Z06 is like the Porsche 911 turbo, mass produced high-performance sportscars.
Staying with the old 200mph rule devaluates the term. How soon until we have a five-seat BMW wagon doing 200+?

Corvette people are loyal good people and should be. But the Viper was America's Supercar up until now. The 2019 ZR1 is a Supercar and the best Sports Car produced in the United States today.

Very good explanation. You and jus cruisin gets 10 points each lol
People have no idea how to categorize supercars anymore. But if using their logic, we can call the hellcat a supercar too. Or any AMG of todays world. World class performance, aggressive styling, can compete with the REAL supercars, so AMG cars must be supercars as well.
I think the same people who think the z06 is a supercar are the same people who watches those facebook videos of a regular person doing a dunk in their backyard and it looks cool and says, "how come he's not in the NBA???" LOL

When 99 percent don't place that much value on a car. Putting cars of that cost vs what you get from a Corvette is beyond silly.

Like I suggested earlier in the thread, go to some of the exotic car forums and check out some of the problems owners are having.

Middle class people cannot afford supercars. If McLaren doesn't consider the 570s a supercar and Porsche doesn't consider the 911 Turbo a supercar how is the z06 a supercar?
