Changing spark plugs
Hey guys, my C7Z is in storage for the winter but since I've been running either Torco or Boostane when I drag race, I'm wondering if I will need to change the plugs at some point? This is my 3rd season at the track. Does anyone know what is involved to change plugs in these cars? Do you have to remove a ton of stuff to gain access? Please advise. Thanks!

You may need to remove the fuse block on the passenger side. On the driver side you should be able to get to them no problem.

That means the whole chamber looks like that. The plug is fine. The new plug will look the same if you use the Torco.

Isn't orange a warning color? Residue; can not be a good thing.

A forum member here did some 'real world' testing comparing Torco to Boostane. His results IIRC was Boostane kicked a$$ not only did it make his car perform better, but he could not really explain part of his results (MPH/RPMs).
Edit: The link/thread I'm taking about.

I'm far from an expert but I'm not sure if the chamber looks like this as well? Between fuel and oil, I'm guessing the cylinder is fine? This was mainly running Torco. It'll be interesting to see if the plugs look like this with only Boostane? That's all I'm running now

I'll be seeing mine real soon my 2015 in going under the knife and the 1.7 is coming off for the TVS 2.3 Heartbeat set to make around 700-720 rwhp with some fuel mods.

I know I sound like a broken record, but after 12 years of running Torco in every tank on my C5, it has caused ZERO issues, and yes, I see the orange color when I do routine plug changes...
I've run it in my C6 for 10 years with out a hitch, every tank full, and now over a year in my C7, no problems... Use what works for you, and I'll do the same.

I just took a little closer look at my plug and the orange residue easily wipes off. Maybe it really is better than it looks? I guess I'm not going to worry about it. Meth has its drawbacks and so does E85. I will probably try and run 100 octane unleaded a little more next season but I'm not going to worry about Boostane and Torco. Plenty of others have had zero issues with it. Thanks guys! I appreciate it

I have a coupe of thoughts. The orange residue might just wipe right by your rings. Then again it could be a 'lubricant' too..
PS: IMO you can't go wrong running un-leaded race gas. Does race gas leave an orange residue?

These new spark plugs are "Outstanding".
I have a 2005 V6 'all wheel drive' Saturn Vue. It has the same type (design) plugs like are now in most vehicles like the Corvettes. The SUV has approx. 150,000 miles on it and it (seat of the pants) has more pickup now than when new, it spins the wheels at part throttle. And the plugs have 'never' been changed. I will change the plugs when the engine starts to miss. I have pulled regular oil/filter changes from new.
OH, and the C7 has over 18,000+ miles on the factory plugs and still runs well.
