Yes, absolutely, because thats just what happens when you track your car around town.. and specially since Kathy built your engine..

your car isn't going to overheat on the street but I think you should worry about it anyways because what else are you going to use your valuable resources worrying about instead?

I was a bit concerned about a female built engine. I hope that chick did a good job I know its the 21st century and all but some jobs are best left for men to do

You'll be dead or jailed before overheating a Z on the street.

So, I'm ready to get flamed here, but I also have an 18 Z06. After a lot of aggressive driving (about an hour) on the streets, I did not overheat, but I did smell anti freeze. My guage said no problem, but it's been bothering me that I smelled it strongly. Do you guys think maybe it splashed onto the manifold somehow?

That's the special emergency bypass valve on right side of engine that opens and sprays antifreeze directly on the exhaust manifold to make you wonder if you're been hard on your car.. it sprays in 1 second intervals when the RPM goes above 5500.

But really take the car in to have it inspected, its a sealed system, you shouldn't smell antifreeze..

I was just kidding.. women are actually much more detailed, and I would trust the female over the male to build mine.. granted they are both trained equally and are at the same level.

My exact thought. Those two options are way more likely.

As long as someone has schooled them about righty-tighty and lefty-loosey.

The smell could be because some antifreeze was spilled, the reservoir cap was loose or the water pump is weeping through its bushing where you can't see it behind the pulley.

You sort of need to define what driving aggressively means. It can vary for each driver. For instance were you running at near or wide open throttle for a long time periods of 5 to 30 minutes at a time. Were you driving hard into corners, late braking, turning in at high rates of speed and powering off the corner with increasing throttle as you went by the apex? When you were done were the front and rear tires so hot you couldn't touch them, the brakes smoking and so hot you couldn't get your hand within 6 inches of the wheel and the oil dipstick so hot you couldn't hold it without using gloves.

Not too much of that. Just wot until I hit sixty, downshifting into turns, etc, but definitely not as hard as you're describing.

Thanks for that. Puts my mind at ease, but I'll use one of my freebies on an inspection since I did my own oil change

If I had the 3LZ I would not worry. 2LZ, well, IDK.

Yeah, you really aren't running the car hard. Any antifreeze smell should be investigated. There are lots of things that can go wrong with a cooling system. Since the car is new let GM worry about where the smell is coming from. If the car wasn't under warranty I would first start by seeing if the radiator cap and system hold pressure.
