I never quantified it as well as gve, but my personal experience mirrors his. Having had first the 1521 and now the PowerStop, I found no difference in performance and even less dust (by FAR) with the PowerStop. I have the Z26, and if doing over I'd choose the Z23 for -street- use. Same pad material and backing plate as Z26 but less prone to noise due due to synthetic shim vs. stainless steel.

I’m have squealing trouble after 15000 miles on the power stops. Do you have suggestions? Is have plenty of pad. I’ve cleaned the entir system inc. removing the pads to clean 3 Times

I have a bit of squeal when cold. This is why I said I'd try the Z23 vs. the Z26 if doing it over. I tried sanding my rotors as well, but no lasting difference. I do think there are varying experiences with other users on this as well. I may experiment in the spring with swapping in the Z23 just to see what happens and to contribute to the collective CF knowledge base rather than just keyboard speculation.

Squeal when cold is typically a light deposit, moisture or overnight rust on the brake pad surface and goes away when the brakes heat up. Constant squealing is generally vibration caused. A good way to lower the vibration and hence the squeal is putting a healthy coating of brake pad grease on the pad backing where it meets the caliper piston. Ceramic pads themselves if well made will not generally squeal.

Me too. Little dust and excellent stopping ability.--Bob

Default brake squeal lub

To those that have installed the Carbotech 1522 pads did you use anti-squeal grease?

Default Bedding

I was told by the people at Carbotech that you do not need to bed the 1521 pads. Has anyone not bedded your pads and how did that turn out?

Yes, the 1521 does not need bed. Put them on and take it easy for a 100 miles or so you will be fine.
