Dead Battery

Dead Battery
I have a 2015 Z06 with 07 Pkg
with 7,000 miles
Only driven on weekends
The battery was dead and I had to jump start
and had it on a trickle charge since then.
It runs good now except the speedometer gauges do not change when i go from Sport to Track or Touring.
Any ideas why the battery got dead and if the speedo change has anything to do with the dead battery.
What should I check next?

You need to link your gauges to driving mode and you probably need to index your windows. I think the rest of your settings should still be intact.
A fully charged battery should be OK for 3 or more weeks without being on a charger. Any aftermarket devices hard wired, plugged into the OBDII port, or the rear 12V port can pull down the battery. Of course, the battery could just be failing.

Thank you for the prompt reply
Nothing aftermarket installed
I'll have the battery checked tomorrow
How do I link the gauges to driving mode and index the windows
Windows are working fine

Indexing is in your owners' manual:
Window Indexing
Indexing automatically lowers the
window a small amount when the
door is opened. When the door is
closed, the window will raise to its
full up position. If either window
does not index properly, it could be
due to loss of power. Before
returning to the dealer for service,
perform the window indexing reset
procedure.
Window Indexing and
Express-Up Reset
Window indexing may be required if
the vehicle battery has been
recharged or disconnected, or is not
working. Express-up and the
convertible top will not function until
the windows are reset. After battery
power is restored, a message
displays in the Driver Information
Center. See
Driver Information
Center (DIC)

.
Once power is restored:
1. Close the doors.
2. Start the vehicle.
3. Hold the window switch up to
the fully closed position
There's also a lot of good info in the C7 General Sticky Threads section that will answer a lot of questions. Spend some time reading the threads...

There is not an easy way to monitor the battery, I just put it on a trickle charger if it will sit over a week. There is a socket back by the battery just for this.
Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Most Volt/Ohm meters have a current measuring mode suitable for measuring the current drain while the vehicle is off.
I don't know what a shut down C7Z06 measures but most cars have something like 20-50 ma to keep the some of the electronics alive. This is the current drain that eventually produces a dead battery in a perfectly working car.

IF battery is dead or just recently replaced, and you open close the doors any danger of messing up the window or A-pillar before re-indexing it? or does it not apply to our cars. Have yet to have that happen but was wondering.

If you lose battery power for any reason you need to reindex the windows. If the windows aren't down when you open the door they will pop out of their recess but you don't want to close the doors with the windows remaining in the full upright position. Once battery power is regained lower the window fully, close the door, close the window, hold the close button for a few seconds, then open the window and hold the open button for a few seconds. That reindexes the windows. When indexed the controller knows how much distance to drop the window so the glass is out of the recessed area when the door is opened or closed.
