aFe Power 52-74202-1 Momentum Performance Intake System
Anyone have any experience with these? Looking to install without tune at first. Any benefit, or will it just look and sound cool (cooler?).

Not on my (-1) part number AFE. There is an indent on the air box for hose clearance and mine does not rub/touch the air box, has approx. 1/4" clearance all around.
If it does touch I would try making an adjustment/twist on the coolant hose and/or maybe push the hose onto the block side fitting more if there is space. You could also slide the hose on more on the radiator end to pull the hose down more too.
Look I even had room to put on this home made egg shaped heat reflector (2000 degrees) which also has 1/4" clearance. That reflector in the indent is on the bottom side so you do not see it just looking into the engine compartment or I would not of put it on.
And here is a time slip using it with the above light gray "Low Flow" dry filter on a good air day (No Tune and No CEL).
PS: It looks cool but I did not notice much 'if any' sound difference. You do not have to cut any hoses to do a very clean install which goes right back to stock if need be.

I was curious because in other GM vehicles I've swapped to CAI, the stock intake has typically had at least some sort of resonator and and the CAI airflow has been more direct (and usually noisier).

Reply from AFE POWERHi,
Yes that is normal.
As you can see we put a groove on the intake tube to make some room for the lower coolant hose.Best regards,
aFe Power Tech SupportI thought that the hose rubbing the air box could over time become damaged !!!!!
