Brake System Failure

Brake System Failure
It is 0430 in the morning and I cannot sleep. I have done numerous internet searches and can't find recent information to my concerns.
I bought my Z06 brand new last March. My Z06 currently has 4300 miles on it. I have never tracked this car and was actually complimented that I average 26.4 MPG. I have been very sick the last several months and haven't had a chance to fully enjoy it yet.
I took my car into a GM dealership this weekend to have the brake pads replaced to reduce dust and to replace my tires with DWS. While replacing my brakes and tires the service department had to keep my car longer because the electronic brake bleeding mechanism wasn't working.
Yesterday, 15 JAN 2018, I picked up my car and within a few miles my electronic brake system failed. I lost power steering and a bunch of errors popped up. Rear stabilizer, rear axle, brake, ABS errors etc.
I took it back to GM and the head corvette mechanic ran a diagnostic. He came back with several errors. He was able to clear some of them but others remained. From what he told me, there have been long standing error codes. I left the car there.
Is something like this covered under warranty?
Also of note, when they were changing out my tires the mechanic noticed one of my rims was cracked in six inch intervals around the entire rim. They replaced the rim at no cost. They were able to show it was a factory issue not something I did.
So far I have had an extremely positive experience with Corvette at literally every turn. I shouldn't be worried but I have read a lot of horror stories.
Is there anything for me to be worried about? Has anybody experienced this type of mechanical failure?
I rarely say anything on here but I want to say thank you to everybody that posts. I read the forums on my iPad every night before bed. Nothing puts me to sleep faster. Just kidding

I'm guessing your battery is low on charge or near failure. During the two months you did not drive it did you have a battery maintainer on it? The error issues you listed are typical of a low charge or failing battery. Keep us posted!

Don't fret, the big advantage of a new car is its warranty. They will get it fixed. I am a bit puzzled why your car was fine when you took it in and then failed when you picked it up. Replacing brake pads is an absolutely trivial job on our cars. You don't even have to remove the caliper. At 4300 miles they may have had to compress the piston slightly to get the new pads in, but that doesn't require anything to be disconnected. And putting on non run flats I would guess they could get the tire on with little trouble.
Hopefully it is the battery, but if you have been driving the car to and from work that should keep the battery charged. Ask him what the codes were. Codes normally will show up on your DIC. So it would be interesting what the history codes were.

I am wondering why the brakes had to be bleed to change brake pads. Something they told you was not right.

The dealership just called. They said my ECU needs to be replaced and it is covered by warranty. I will ask why they had to bleed the brakes when I pick the car up.
Have any of you heard of this issue before?

Any electrical component can fail and the ecm is a complicated electrical component. However having it fail soon after a service visit makes one wonder. Doesn't much matter as that is a plug and play fix and one they can do easily and it will be good as new.

Sometimes the brakes need to be bled after a pad change. I have to do that after I changed pads in my AP Racing calipers. Brake pedal was solid before I swapped pads but afterwards it has a little bit of a spongy feel to it. The old pads were slightly worn while the new pads barely fit in the caliper even with the pistons shoved all the way back. I now have to bleed the brakes to get the solid feel back.
The other stuff may have happened due to a low battery. You should ask them if they checked the battery charge as it is unusual for an ECM failure to cause failures in so many other systems including the ABS and power steering. Traction Control and Stability Control can be affected by ECM issues but the ABS runs separately from the engine.
If you don't drive the car much you may see this situation reoccur.

Today the dealership called and told me the car was ready for pickup. They replaced my ECU. I got a mile down the road and everything went out again. I attached some photos. I was barely able turn around to take it back. Also when everything locked up, it abruptly pulled me towards the curb. This is a major safety issue. I hope they figure this out soon.

Pretty sure it is an electrical issue. If not the battery, then it could be an electrical connection or lack of connection that is interrupting the circuit. They will find it. Intermittents are a bitch as you can't find them when they are working.

Sorry to hear about all your issues. I will bet there was human error involved of some sort. Obviously they didn't feel it was necessary to test drive your car before allowing you to do it for them, sad! Its an electronically controlled rear diff so it may be ok and still be what the original issue was. Possible broken wire or something became unplugged?? With all the algorithms in these cars it can be hard to pin point the issue. The mechanics need to go over all systems they touched.
If it was me i would pay to have the car flat bedded to another dealer that has a good verifiable reputation. Good for you everything should be covered under warranty.

Damaged yaw sensor...I mean if the thing literally wanted to change lanes on you, that's my vote. Never experienced it in a c7, but I have in the zr1 and it is a major safety issue.

I came across this in my email; dated 10 JAN. I turned my vehicle in on the 11th. Something may have have come loose when they were changing out the pads and tires. I am sure it will get fixed soon. Just wish it was in my garage

I just had my torque tube and flexplate replaced and I'm getting the exact same warnings. They are telling me it's because my front tires, Kumho's are too short and the computer is going into fits trying to figure out what is happening. I'm going back to stock tires in a couple of days. If it isn't gone after that I'm going back to the dealer where the service was done.
BTW I've had the Kumho's on for 2 years.

They were not stock size. They were the conti extreme DWS tires. A little thinner in the back. I can't recall the exact size off the top of my head. I went with the recommendations here on the forums and they checked out on discount tires.

Listed below are the tires I had them install:
CONTINENTAL
EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06
315/35ZR20
Sidewall Style: Blackwall
Load Range: XL
For 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Coupe
CONTINENTAL
EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06
285/30ZR19
Sidewall Style: Blackwall
Load Range: XL
For 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Coupe
If these are the wrong ones, why did they install them? If they are the wrong ones, what do you recommend as a way ahead?
