You need to pull the wheels off of the car and inspect at the inner pads as well.
Depending on how hard you push the car, front pads could last anywhere from 3 to 5 track days.
Replace pads when you get to 3mm thickness to save the rotors.

If I need to replace the brake pads, do you recommend OEM brake pads, or some others like Carbotech XP series, I am think get the XP12, do you think the XP series will hurt the rotors? Thanks

I have a 2015 Z06/Z07 with 11,000 to 12,000 street/highway miles only (never tracked) and I have started getting the same message. Carbon build up or a Faulty sensor perhaps?

Don't go with the Carbotech's. They are not specifically made for a ceramic rotor and may cause the rotor to wear faster. You are close on the pad wear 6 days is about the limit on the front pads. The sensor is on the inside pad. Once you have the wheels off and can see the sensors on both inside pads if they look like the wire inside the plastic block isn't broken check your rear pads just in case.

Stock pads can be purchased from Amazon. Part numbers are: Old part number 23198733 (FRONT PADS), New part number 23316708, AC Delco part# 171-1186

https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-171-1186-Original-Equipment-Sensors/dp/B01E6GPRNI/ref=au_as_r?_encoding=UTF8&Make=Chevrolet%7C47&Model=Corvette%7C440&Year=2015%7C2015&ie=UTF8&n=15684181&s=automotive&vehicleId=2&vehicleType=automotive https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-171-1186-Original-Equipment-Sensors/dp/B01E6GPRNI/ref=au_as_r?_encoding=UTF8&Make=Chevrolet%7C47&Model=Corvette%7C440&Year=2015%7C2015&ie=UTF8&n=15684181&s=automotive&vehicleId=2&vehicleType=automotive

While changing the pads check both sides of your front rotors right where the bottom of the pads end. In your picture there are three shades of gray just outside of the rotor hat. The inner one is the lower shelf of the rotor where it fastens to the hat, the middle one may be an area of excessive wear and the outside shade is the main part of the rotor where the rotor rubs. Use your finger to feel the middle shade to see if a groove is starting to wear in the rotor. If you can't feel one check the old brake pad to see if there is a small ridge in the adjoining area of the pad.

Carbon build up doesn't affect the sensor. The sensor is basically a wire that loops through a phenolic block that is inserted in a notch on the edge of the inner rotor backing plate. When the pad gets thin enough the rotor wears the block down and when the wire inside the block is broken the warning is displayed. There have been cases where the block has been loose on the pad and worn prematurely, there have also been cases where somebody broke the wires going to or from the block or the connector on the cradle under the engine came loose. When the wire inside the block is broken the sensor system isn't grounded any more and the warning message is displayed. If there is no problem with the thickness your brake pads and the sensor is broken GM will probably replace the pads under warranty if the warranty is still in affect. If there is something wrong with the wiring harness or connector they will fix it under warranty as well. However, if the warranty has expired then you can purchase some C6 ZR1 sensors and use them to patch your broken sensor circuit. That may include splicing a new sensor block into the wiring that is already on the car.

Had this same issue with my 2015. It was s faulty sensor on one of the rear brakes. Dealer did something to repair the sensor.

It’s a bad sensor. Apparently GM now sells just the sensor when it needs to be replaced so you won’t be getting new pads also, although you obviously don’t need them either.

It's a sensor which is attached to the pads. They replaced mine under warranty.

The rear GM part# is actually 23300244

I see some on eBay right now for less than $492 free shipping for a set of OE rear pads.

I see a set of front pads for $544 shipped.

Here are the GM and ACDelco part#s for the Z07 pads - all of the front or rear numbers are for the exact same pad:

Front:

GM: 23198733 or 23316708
ACDelco: 171-1186

Rear:

GM: 23198750 or 23300244
ACDelco: 171-1143

Do you have a part # on the sensors only?

I do not; sorry. But there was a post here where an owner just had the sensor replaced. It makes sense of course since it’s dumb for GM to package the sensor only with the pad since the sensor is a stand alone part. Meaning it’s not integrated with the pad.

Have you checked with some of the sponsors here like Cultrag?

Use stock pads. The rotors are way to expense to take the chance using others that may cause premature wear. I track my car a lot and go thru a set of front pads about every 3 to 4 track days. On the street they will last over 50k miles i would guess.

If you search on the forum there were guys years ago that tried other pads and it was not so good. But this was years ago.

I just got the message on my dash screen “ service, brake worn” , I think I still the brake pads still have some left, callled the dealer and set an appointment on Wednesday, just want to ask some people on forum , anyone has the same problem before? Car is a 2015 Z06 with Z07, 10500 miles , 5-6 track days.
[/QUOTE:]

I have a 2016 ZO6/ZO7 with 15K miles and 1 track day at a novice level.
I have been randomly getting this message for the most of my time with the car, maybe once or twice an hour. Took wheels off and inspected all inner and outer pads, they looked to me like new thickness all around. My understanding is that the wear circuit is a continuous loop through 1 pad at each corner, so a momentary vibration-caused break at any connection will trigger the message. I am choosing to just live with it. I try to minimize my interaction with dealership service.
