Which pads to replace carbon ceramics for track use
My 2018 Z06 Z07 has 3500 miles & the fronts seem like they may last perhaps one more DE (maybe 2 at most).
Are the GM pads the best (only) choice?
I think they perform magnificently.
Where do you guys get them (GM Parts Direct)?
Thanks!

4 DE's as an instructor (so not as much track time as a typical attendee), + 2 Charity Lap days running chase/pace (not at high speed) - all at VIR.

Most of us running/who ran the CCMs at HPDEs went with the OEM pad. There have been reports of increase rotor wear using Carbotech pads.
You can find them on Amazon occasionally much cheaper than your local parts dept.

I found them on Trunk Monkey (SubChev here I believe) for $681.
Not sure if the part #'s I found here GM & AC Delco are the same for the 2018, but assuming they are. I searched eBay & did not really find anything but will check again.

These pads have been highly recommended but are not cheap. http://www.pagidracing.com/en/produc...amily-rsc.html . If you look around the web site you can see they are designed specifically for use on ceramic rotors. I think Pagid is also the supplier for the stock pad but don't know for sure.

On both the C6 ZR1 and the C7 Z06/Z07 the fronts are a Textar T4300 compound - you can see that on the box and the backing plate. On the box it says "Friction Mat. Textar T4300":
The rear pads are a Pagid S600 compound:
Both Textar and Pagid are subsidiary companies of TMD Friction.
The link Bill put up to the Pagid site with info about their RSC 1, 2, or 3 compounds are their race pads. I've got a set of RSC 1 fronts I'm going to swap into my Z06 before my next event at Daytona April 12-13.
I don't see any good deals on eBay right now, but you can do better on Amazon than the Trunk Monkey deal. On Amazon I see the OE fronts available for about $571, and the rears are about $512.
Do a search using the OE pad part#s:
Front:
GM part#: 23198733 or 23316708
ACDelco: 171-1186
Rear:ACDelco: 171-1186
GM part#: 23198750 or 23300244
ACDelco: 171-1143

I used your previous post to search for the pads on Amazon & eBay.
They say they don't fit the 2018, but I believe that is simply because they have not updated the filter data; I'm not aware of any brake changes for the Z06 Z07 MY 2018.
BTW, Ken from KNS said to stay with the OEM pads if I retain the OEM CC rotors. He's helped me out of many a brake bind (see what I did there), and I trust what he says.

Guys, There are a few threads here from back in 2016 where others have tried tracking pads other than oem's. Its worth searching but i can remember premature disk wear was common and that can get expensive! May be best to Google vs. search within CF.
I have always used oem pads so cannot comment on others. I get 3 solid track days only out of a set of fronts. 4 days if not running many hot laps during those days. Rears about 8 to 10 days. The CCB's preform so well and consistent i cannot see going steel.

As a matter of fact, you can buy the C6 ZR1 pads (which are identical up front, and only slightly different but still useable in the rear) and save A LOT of $$$!!!
With a set of C7 Z07 pads you get a set of cables for the sensors. If your sensors are okay, or if you don't want to use them, you can get C6 ZR1 pads. I just checked on eBay and see C6 ZR1 fronts for $467 and rears for $347. I got the cheapest prices checking with the ACDelco part#. Here are the part#s:
Front:
GM part#: 19207042 or 22956252
ACDelco: 171-1010
Rear:
GM part#: 19206975 or 22956256
ACDelco: 171-1009
The front C6 ZR1 pads are exactly identical to the C7 Z07 pads.
The rear C6 ZR1 pads are exactly the same backing plate so fit perfectly in the C7 Z07 calipers. Unlike the C7 Z07 pads, the pads are beveled on the front and rear egdes. I've used them on my C7 Z06/Z07 and they work fine. You can see a C6 ZR1 pad in the picture in my previous post.
You can also find some Pagid RSC 1 pads on eBay. Our Z07 Vettes use the exact same size backing plate as a bunch of other cars (Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren, Viper, etc.). Some use the same fronts as our Vettes, and some use the same rears, but you can find them on eBay.
We use the Pagid 8091 size backing plate for our front calipers, and the Pagid 4906 for the rears. You won't get sensor cable with the Pagids.
Take a look on eBay - do a search for "Pagid 8091" or "Pagid 4906".
I currently see on eBay front Pagid 8091 pads for $699, and I see Pagid 4906 rear pads for $399 - both in the RSC 1 compound.
Let us know what you get and how they work!!
Bob
