Seems to give better wear, better driving characteristics and people using it have had better tire life as well. Quite a few people on here with 5-7k miles or so in the wear bars with factory set alignments which can vary a great deal as well from what people have found. Plan to do this on mine as well.

It's my understanding that the only difference between the 94 and 98 is the load rating....98 would be a slightly stiffer sidewall. At those numbers and run flat it's likely not a massive difference (maybe it is). The difference is about 180 pounds of load acceptable per tire...94 being lower of course. I wouldn't expect the tires for the Z06/GS in C7 sizes to be offered in both either way. That's extra building of tires for an extremely small market. Maybe some cars with smaller footprints in these tires have the 98y because they are performance sedans with a nearly 4k weight, like maybe a BMW or Mercedes where they need a little more load factor?

93Y has a load rating 1433 lbs per tire front tire
99y has a load rating 1709 lbs per tire rear tire

I didn't look them up, but nice. Works for me. Since 94Y and 98Y had been mentioned, those were the ones I looked at, since a member said his new tires just installed were 94Y. Outside of the sidewall stiffness which might mean a bit more noise or easier to bend/crack a wheel, I don't think there's much there to be concerned with though.

I made a mistake I bought the car in July 2018 it had 7k on it I put another 5K, today it has 12,303, I checked to see if the tires had been changed prior to me buying it from the dealer, apparently they were change before getting to my dealer, new Pilot SS came in at 9/32 thread the dealer inspection prior to my purchase show 8/32 on both front and rear 1/32 wear, Today I took it to Tire plaza had them check my tread, Rear 8/32 no wear Front 7/32 so in 5k miles I wore zero off rear and 1/32 off front, they were perfect measurement all the way across. Not to bad so far, in most states from what I have research allow down to 2/32, if it keeps going this way I should get 15 to 20k maybe. we will see as time and miles rack up.

I haven't had a chance to put many miles on them yet but so far I like them. My car originally had the Cup 2s so these tires are definitely more quiet. Though I didn't have any complaints about the noise from the Cup 2s. As far as handling I really haven't noticed much difference but I really wouldn't driving normally on the street. Ride comfort might be slightly better but that's subjective since my car has the stiffer Z07 suspension & I always have it in sport mode, so the ride is stiff regardless of the tires. I'm curious to see how these are after they start getting some miles on them. BTW, my alignment is set to the DSC Street/Track specs so my service advisor told me that the dealership considers it to be out of alignment & that they are not responsible for any strange tire wear. Whatever.
I ended up selling my Cup 2s here on the CF. They sold within 5 hours so I was happy about that. They were practically like new since they only had 1,425 miles on them & had never been tracked. I considered keeping them but there are better options for track tires (some have had delamination issues with the Cup 2s on the track). On the street you can't drive hard enough to get enough heat into the Cup 2s to use them to their full potential so they were just too much of a compromise all the way around. Not to mention the weather related issues with them (using them in temps below 40/in the rain/potential tread cracking issues if exposed to temps of 20 or below (applies to PSS too).
I'm really hoping that I have now reduced the handling of my car to the level of a mom's Camry. My next project is to make the exhaust system on my car as quiet as the ones on the Camry. Lol

Unless you track the car, I doubt anyone will notice the difference in these tires. Except they'll be better in cold temperatures and quieter year-round. And if you do, you're driving way too fast for the street. Just the truth...

I put a set of the AS3 on my 2016 Z. I have put about 2500 miles on them, I can assure I can tell little or no difference in handling. However I can tell you that I can now drive my car with cold tires & I have total control of the car. I can now drive it in the rain & feel safe. My car came with the MPSS tire, & it is just to slippery for cold weather driving. I can assure you that the AS3's are the hot tip if you want to drive your car year round like I have been wanting to do. As a side note the tire noise is a little different since you have a tire with tread & groves, but the noise is no louder than the MPSS has.

I'll admit they are a hassle to deal with for the tire guys but it can be done.
You should call your local Discount Tire & ask them why they couldn't deal with the tires since other Discount Tire stores all across the U.S. have no issues dealing with C7 Z06 run-flats.

Then I guess I've just had good luck with the stores I've been to. I use the San Marcos store which is around 22 miles from here. I remember 18 years ago needing to call around to see who could deal with Vette run-flats when I still had my C5 but I didn't think that was an issue anymore.

40 degrees + or - Fahrenheit, if you have the OEM tires on and you are in temperatures of this range remember weather mode is your friend. The OEM tires have very little grip in temperatures below the 40 degree threshold. The range for the A/S 3+ extends to well below freezing.
