Four years, Three C7's, two buybacks, goodbye Corvette

With every model of car there will be some owners who just can't catch a break.
It seems that everything that can go wrong, goes wrong with their car.
It's just the way life is sometimes...
Hate to see you go, 5th Gear.
Wish you luck with your new ride.

Sorry the C7’s didn’t workout for you and I understand your frustration. Apparently the C7 Z06 was not as “Track Capable” as Tadge said. It will be interesting to find out if the ZR1 lives up to the hype. Will the A8 ZR1 still overheat on the track? We shall find out within the next few months. Stay tuned!

Sucks. Sorry to hear your troubles. How'd you get the buyback initiated? I have a friend with a 2018 that has now dropped a lifter twice in 500 miles. They simply replaced a push-rod, 4 lifters and the cam the first time. This time they're telling him they'll replace the other lifters and the cam again. He's pissed...it's his third Vette in 3 years and they're treating him like dog crap.
I've only had these types of car experiences with GM. While I loved my 2013 CTS-V wagon, it needed the SC replaced, drive shaft replaced, SC intercooler pump replaced twice, rear diff replaced 3 times and had a sun-roof leak.

What a nightmare and I don't blame you for taking a break. - hope you find a good replacement and that this experience hasn't soured you forever. Good luck.

Who ever got to own a Z06 would have hard time moving to something else even if you spend double the Z06 budget. It looks great, supercar ability, and the engine roar is something else.

Thanks Joel. Next time I am gonna have to get into your draft and try to get the M4 slingshot pass the other cars.
By the way. Speed district is having an event this weekend at Auto Club Speedway. Only 12 cars so far for Sunday. Everyone thought it’s gonna be raining but now it shows nice 65F day.

Damn, that sucks. Well written but very sorry to hear you went through that. I think I’d do the same, so I can’t blame you. See you on the flip side.

No one can legitimately fault you for getting out after such lousy experiences with the C7. Good luck with the BMW.

OP good luck, I hope you report back on your ownership experience of the BMW. Having owned both, maybe you could shed some light on the old "grass is greener" theory.
Change is good, sometimes even when a hand is forced to make it. can't wait to hear how you make out giving an M car a try.

To me the grass was green where it is for once for owning a C7 Z06 . I had no interest in any other car. The Z06 looks good, monster power, roar that revs the hearts, turn heads,....I just had bad luck with non-stop technical problems and the technical support was lacking.
I am halfway through my 1,200 miles break-in period with the M4 and so far it is a nice car. Cant exceed 5,000 rpm (red line 7,500) so I don't know how the power profile is after 5,000rpm. It does have a very strong pull to 5,000 rpm. No sense of turbo lag. DCT shift is crisp (no delay). The car turns very nicely when pushing on some tight canyon roads. It doesn't understeer. You would think most cars with factory settings do understeer. It doesn't sound as good as other sport cars (especially the Z06). Not sure if an aftermarket exhaust would fix an inline 6 cyl sound.
My guess at the local track that has long straights I would be 3 seconds slower than a Z06 but will have to see.
I just started paying attention to M2, M3, and M4 lap times at the local tracks and some guys are running some insane times. I have to see how they do it.
There is lots of aftermarket info / parts for track purpose. Pretty much anything you can think of is out there.

I hear ya. I'm referencing the reliability only.
Obviously two different worlds in terms of expectations. Glad you're enjoying the m car and I wish you well with it.
