Default HOLY COW This Thing is Quick!!!

I finally had the opportunity to wake up my 'new to me' 2015 Z07/A8 yesterday and all I can say is WOW!

The air temp was still a little cool (40°), but the sun was out and my wife hadn't been for a ride in the car yet (and, quite honestly, I couldn't wait any longer to get behind the wheel). Meanwhile, this is only the second time I've driven the car - the last time being in December when I took it to the dealer to have it looked over prior to purchase.

As I said, the temps were cool and the tires are getting older (3-yrs and 9600 miles on the original Cup 2s), but that thing takes off like a rocket! I was also quite surprised at how responsive (twitchy) the steering was and and how easily it breaks loose - I assume I'll get used to both over time. I drove a 2600lb NASCAR Modified race car for a few years that had 600+ hp, but I don't remember it being quite as wild - even with a 5.75 rear gear!

Given my new-found respect for this car, I think I'll keep it in Weather or Tour mode until I get used to it a bit more. I started out in Sport mode thinking 'I got this' but, like I said, was taken by surprise at how spirited it can be - can't wait for summer!!!

Be careful, those tires don’t grip in that cold temperatures! There’s some that have got into a lot of trouble like that. Congratulations on a great car!

Good advice! Actually, they are fairly high on my list for replacement. I don't anticipate taking the car to the track much (if at all) and, as such, will be looking for a good all-season street tire. Not sure if the PSS are the way to go, but definitely something better for wet days as this will be my summertime DD.

The Michelin MPSS are a great tire. Especially if u aren’t tracking. I put 20k on my first C7 before trading it in and there was still adequate tread depth left. They also handle adequately in rain. Now below 40*, no bueno. Otherwise, the combo of tire tack and tread longeveity really make them an excellent tire. Cup tires really are a track tire. They work on the street but not well, IMO.

Keep the traction control and all the other nannies switched on as well on too --- or you will find out in a big hurry all about things like torque steer.

9600 miles on Cup 2's are UNSAFE - they are End of Life and I would replace them immediately if not sooner

9600 miles on Cup 2's? They must be completely treadless. Get those replaced with either fresh Cup 2's or Pilot Super Sport ZP's.

With 9,600 miles on them, they'd be the ONLY thing on list for replacement.

Yeah, I thought they seamed a bit on the hard side (like race tires get after one too many heat cycles). I'll get them replaced as soon as the weather warms up a bit (will also keep all nanny features enabled for a while).

Good traction or not, I couldn't wipe the grin from my face !

Turn off traction control when you want to have fun. With traction control on it’s scary. LoL. Leave stabilitrak on though.

The pics aren't very good, but these are all I've got (it's been hibernating since the day it was delivered - except for the short ride last Sunday).

In the dealer's showroom...

Santa's Sleigh!

I didn't like the way they strapped it onto the flatbed via the wheels, but good news is that it didn't do any damage to the paint. It really is a beautiful car!!!

She’s a beauty. Almost exactly the color combo for my next one! I’m addicted to clear tops but all else is perfect!

Enjoy and please be careful. She is a beast. Take it easy until spring gets here if ever!

Are you noticing twitchy steering in touring mode? Go into the driver settings in the center stack display and change your steering to sport. The tour steering is too light and over-assisted.

I also have the twin, a 2016, except for black mirrors. Definitely very, very fast. Added AFE caii and a Mano TB. Great result. Don’t forget to get the Magnetic Ride upgrade. Enjoy

Is this just as simple as going to the dealer and having them install it? Is there typically a charge for getting software updates?
