GM cars do strange things with a bad battery
Not the c7z— but is worthy for c7z owners to note. another family members chevy product was behaving strangely. The trunk release wouldn’t work and the key fob was only unlocking the drivers door And not the other doors nor would it release the trunk and would intermittently sound The alarm weakly beeping the horn. It seemed odd with the car just sitting the horn would start beeping. Even with new batteries In the key fob It didn’t work. Then The service abs light lit up.
i was thinking the worse that it could be the bcm(body control module) Or something in the abs module.
no codes stored on anything.
Even though the car started fine —for the heck of it I checked the receipt on the last battery I put in 3 years ago. It was 2 weeks past it’s 3 year free replacement warranty.
Had the battery tested and it was bad. Put in a new battery, cleaned and tightened all the connections in and around the battery and to the fuse panel.
all the problems went away with abs Light and keyfob.
bottomline — My opinion — if you have a Gm product from a complex car like the c7 or Cadillac down to an entry level chevy Cruze. If the battery is more then 24 months old and the car starts behaving strangely. Bite the bullet and put a new battery in it first , I would even suggest that even if the battery checks out fine and the car starts just fine. Then go from there peeling back the onion.
