Why do I need a Z07?
Legit question.
Been shopping for a new(er) model and the base package checks off all my needs. Stumbled across a brand new leftover 2016 3LZ w/Z07 for the same price as all the others (1LZ) I've looked at.
Intended use is frequent, close to being a daily driver. I am in the midwest if that is of any concern.
With the exception of needing a better tire in the cooler months, what concerns does the Z07 have over that standard package?
Thoughts?

Are you going to track the car? The CCB's will last the life from my understanding if you do not. Tires would be the main concern for weather. Don't see any other real concerns. IMO why not get the leftover at the reduced price.

If you can get a good price on it, got for it. Do you need the CCBs? No, but if you're going to DD it, they'll probably last forever. Throw some PSSs on there when the SC2s wear out (or the all seasons that Michelin is releasing in the fall) and you're good to go. With the Z07 you'll have the more aggressive aero look and the CCBs that set it apart a bit from other Corvettes. The ride will be a bit more firm but that could be improved with the new suspension calibration (ask the dealer to include it in the sale?).

"Need"? You don't. Why do you "want" one, that is a better question. I was in a similar boat looking at a loaded '17 holdover vs '18 2LZ. For me, I got more bang for my buck, better looks and more performance potential in the 3LZ Z07 package.

It's a great buy IF....... you plan on keeping it for a minimum of 4 or 5 years. Otherwise with it being about 4 MY old? Tomorrow that car is only 65k trade max. Next year probably mid 50s. Jist something to think about.
and I mean that's a nice buy for what is essentially brand new and fully loaded.

Not sure were 4 years old comes from. I bought my 2016 in 2016 and it just had its 2 year birthday. So worse would be close to 3 years if it was an early 2016 built in 2015.
You mention one thing that would be a red flag. There is no advantage to a Z07 as a daily driver and two things that I would not like.
1) The Sport Cup2 are barely streetable and in heavy rain a nightmare. Cold weather... forget it. In addition they will last maybe 10K miles. So as a DD expect to need to replacement very quickly. Replacement Super Sport will be around 1500 installed plus your winter tires (maybe rims).
2) CCM are very fragile and to replace extremely expensive. About 4 times the cost. Sure they might last a long time but IMHO not worth it.
It does sound like a good deal if you are coming into it with eyes wide open. Both things I mentioned are not an issue to some. For me they were a major reason I did not do Z07.

Some may not like the stiffer suspension. I love mine. Other than the extra cost of tires and brakes it's a sweet deal. The brakes look and perform amazing and the aero makes the car standout.

I have a 2016 Z06/Z07 3LZ and absolutely love it.....well except for the short lived Sport Cup 2's. I have 8,800 miles on them and they need to be replaced. Will go with the Pilot Super Sports. The CCB's are great brakes, will probably never wear out as long as I own the car and are almost completely dust free...making it easier to keep your wheels clean. The 3LZ interior sure makes the care feel more expensive, refined and complete (entirely subjective) and the stance of the Stage III aero is the aggressive look I was going for. To me, I would get as much car as you can, since you are already spending a lot of money. Good luck.

I have one. It'll never see a track, straight or curvy. I sold the Cup2's and replaced them with non-runflats. I didn't need the Z07 option, really didn't need the Z06 but I liked it and I didn't empty the bank account to buy it. I really like the looks of the CCB'S. No rust, no squealing and no brake dust.

I wonder how many people overlook that. My wife's Audi...I can clean the wheels, drive it 5 miles, and they're dirty again. These just don't dust up at all. I hose them off when I wash the car and will soap and water them probably every 5th wash or so.
