Default Question for Protekt

Hi Protekt I just received my Stage 2/3 splitter protector. I know it is pretty straight forward install except for these 2 metal brackets? Where do they mount? Quick YouTube video would be awesome.

What metal brackets? I didn't get any only the three pieces for under the splitter

It came with 2 small metal brackets and 2 stainless screws that screw the brackets to something? I will take a pic of them.

Maybe it's for the stage 3 winglets?

Yes they are for the stage 3 winglets, can't help you as where they fit as mine will not be here until tomorrow, Mitch allowed me to return their first kit and replaced it with this for stage 3.
See this link to show new bracket

How long did you have the first kit before returning it? Mine has been on the car for at least a year.

Hi Bill, never opened the box, and then read that Mitch came out with the kit for the winglets, so I asked if I could switch, and the new kit is suppose to be delivered tomorrow.

Those brackets fit inside the wider, ZO7 option winglets.

They install using the factory winglet bolts, and are meant to help hold the ends of the plates up tighter against the bottom of the winglet

Here is a pic of one of the prototype brackets installed in a test car.

(By the way, those bolts are a PITA to get to!!)

If you are running the stage 2/3 Aero kit, but the narrower winglet setup, you need the regular Stage 2/3 kit, instead of this one.

Please PM me, and we can work it out.

Thanks,
mitch
Installed winglet bracket.

Installed winglet bracket.
Yep I figured it out. Here is my initial thought on the winglet brace. I was unlucky enough to have a dog sitter (or her boyfriend) take my Z07 out for a joyride and smash the passenger side winglet into a curb folding it in. The impact only folded the winglet and left the Carbon Fiber Splitter untouched. If the winglet has that STEEL bracket in it, it may not let the winglet absorb (sacrifice itself) and transfer that impact onto the Splitter and front nose piece of the car? Just thinking out loud, would love to here some thoughts. The Protekt looks good thou

It is hard to see in the pic but it folded that winglet in half on impact and then sprang back to where you see it in the pic.

Wow, that’s unacceptable.

Your dog better love them.

Also, I hear you, but the bracket is made to work with the skid plates, and I think once that whole assembly is bolted together, it should do a good job of keeping the winglets and the splitter pretty safe. (This is one of the reasons that the wider version has all new side plates, instead of little add on pucks under the winglet. The idea was to make the winglet area tougher in general)

Nah she denied the whole thing and I neglected to turn the VALET mode on my car before we left. I looked to house cameras and street cameras to put her or her boyfriend behind the wheel to no avail. In the end it got fixed no problem and I learned a huge lesson. All I wanted was for her to fess up, it wasn’t about any money, just honesty and that proved to be too much. Kids these days. Last time we used her.

I know the feeling.....I would have felt violated since someone betrayed my trust. I would have confronted her parents if she was unwilling to admit. They would have probably denied everything for their "baby" but they "know" she's a ****.

That's why I hide the keys to my "fun" cars. Removes the temptation for contractors and anyone who is at the house unsupervised.

The other thing I am going to do is wire up the garage door opener onto a hidden switch somewhere in the garage, so I can turn it off, if I am going on vacation.

A pad lock through one of the holes on the garage door track. Put the lock itself inside the track so the wheel can't go over it. easier than hiding a switch!

sorry to keep the off topic going.

Honestly it could be a lot worse.

Many years ago a friend of mine was out of town, and his wife, and her boyfriend, (!) took his fun car for a joyride, and totaled it.

It took him years to get back to normal after that.
