That deal is pretty good. You may find another slightly better deal if you keep looking.

I feel your pain with the automatic in a performance car...After all they are probably .1-.2 quicker in the 60’ But they are f-king boring to drive. I’ve tried twice and It cost me money both times going back to what I love manual transmissions. I also have a dd and it’s an auto, all manuals in my toys. You only live once, do what makes you happy!

I get it...when you are on the fence on such a large purchase you need to sound off...and since my wife is bored to tears with this stuff, I come to you folks hat in hand. I'm down to the wire and on the fence about trading into a new Z06 Corvette, and trust the opinions here immensely. This is a lateral move, primarily motivated by my desire to get back into a manual transmission car AND getting a great deal.

Currently: I own a 2016 2LT DSOM Z06 A8 Convertible, Nav, PDR, black top, black interior, black rims, w/ 14k miles. They are offering $62k for my trade. Ugh. which is within range of most online tools. They started at $57,500 (REALLY?!). I was offered as high as $68k by another dealer on a 2019. I'm probably the least happy about the trade value on this deal.

New Car: I'm looking at a 2017 3LT Torch Red Z06 M7 Convertible, Carbon Fiber Ground effects, Comp Seats, black interior, black rims, black top. The MSRP on the 2017 is $102,265, and currently GM incentives and their discounts totall -$17,665 (17% off MSRP) for a sale price of $84,600. On a 17 month old car (built in Oct 2016) this strikes me as a good deal, but not a GREAT deal...I could be wrong.

Color: I LOVE my Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic, and I'm not a fan of the 2019 Sebring Orange, so that is a non issue. TR is my 2nd choice behind DSOM. I will be happy with TR.

Comp Seats: I'm a big guy but in decent shape, and fit in the Comp Seats ok. Not my first choice. I've tried a few cars AND drove in Comp seats at Spring Mountain and really didn't notice them (good thing). Added bonus, they look really cool!

Carbon Fiber & Interior: The 2017 has a 3LT Interior, the Carbon Fiber dash, and ground effects, which I LOVE, but it is just window dressing.

The Future: With growing speculation (and I know full well it is only speculation) that the C8 will not have a manual, this is a big reason I'm looking at buying a manual Z06 while I can.

Short-term factors: Finally, full disclosure, in the short term, my 2016 is better for me...I'm getting shoulder surgery on Thursday, so my A8 I could probably be driving within a week or two...the M7 might be up on my lift for a month plus...but long term I REALLY want a manual again. I've been talking to this dealer for a few weeks, and I went to go see it last Saturday, ready to make a deal but they asked me to wait until May (odd) so they could see if there was more flex cash they could put into it....which other than the GM incentives, nothing more materialized on their end. The car is beautiful and has been showroom kept. CF ground effects have not been installed to keep them safe on the showroom floor.

I am leaning towards doing this if they can get me a better rate today (and thus lower my payment a few more dollars), but is this a good deal? Great deal? or Pass?

Thank you in advance....
if you want to row gears -sell the c7 auto and buy a c6z06 m6 and pocket 2o or 25k. A more fun car to drive. I came from a c6z to a 2017 m7. While I like the c7z we have The c6z is a lot of fun and I liked the m6 better then the m7. And the c7z doesn’t come close to the experience of the 7000 rpm rush the c6z has.

If a convertible is a requirement. Keep your c7 and buy a c6z. Heck for the 22k spread on the trade you can find a nice c6z for 10 or 15k on top of that and keep your c7z vert.

Sure, a top end power rush feels good, and feels like it's really fast (even if it isn't) if that's what floats your boat.

the c6z has a serious top end power rush. Enough so that 0-100 the c7z is ahead by about 6 tenths of a second and on up to 150mph the c6z bone stock gets there almost 1 second quicker then a bone stock c7z.

Personally, I could never go backwards to a C6 after having a C7 Z. No chance in hell.

I vote 2017 3LZ Torch Red Z06 vert but I might be bias because I have a 2017 3LZ Torch Red Z06 vert. 20% off brings it down to $82,000 and sign the paperwork SOLD!Here is mine!

Just like i said in the other thread, LOL, manual all the way.

The auto's are good, but they're not THAT good, at least comparing them to a DCT.

The fact you currently own an auto and actually want the same car but in a manual speaks volumes. It's good to hear both sides.

Go with the manual. It's newer, better color (at least IMHO) and of course the manual (better lol).

If what you say about what they say is true (although speculation), that the C8 will NOT have a manual, and that GM still fools around with silly torque converters, an upgrade to a manual ZR1 sounds good right about now. Or in your case, that 17 manual Z.

Which route you take, you're still part of the family so that's always deserves respect!

IMO, wait until you've recovered from the surgery...there will always be plenty of new C7s to buy

There are a number out there that have blown their rears usually from side-stepping the clutch but "also" severe wheel hop which no one tries to do but happens, even on the A8s. The spiders gears are/where the weakest part of the Z06 drive train. Either one only needs to happen "ONCE".

PS: And that is why GM finally made the upgrade.

Default Sold!

Thanks for all of the input from both sides. Ironically it REALLY helped writing all this out and “presenting it” and hearing everyone’s input. I could barely focus at work yesterday, and actually went to go see “Avengers - Infintity War” to get my mind of it (amazing, btw). With texts back and forth between sales, than their GM, than fianance manager we got it there. Final deal was $20,281.65 off MSRP, or right at 20% off (19.83).

With Spring driving finally here, I felt it was a good time to jump on the deal even with shoulder surgery later this week...I now have a new motivation to push through PT!

I have to admit, I was pretty nostalgic turning in my DSOM but when I saw them side by side I knew it was the right move...that and on the 90 min ride him from Racine Wisconsin to the West Suburbs of Chicago was a blast driving stick again. No doubt that’s what I needed and this was the right move...it wa like being reunited with an old friend. When I got home I was out doing test drives with my neighbor (GS owner) and then out until almost midnight driving around with my daughter. Love it.

I know you’ll give me a thumbs up either way, but thank you everyone for the advice, sincerely! First round is on me!

DSOM and Torch Red. Not the best lighting for DSOM though...

Love the 3LT interior, Carbon Fiber details...and actually really find the Comp seats very comfortable. Zero complaints on a 90 minute ride.

Lol...just noticed the crooked broom...does that bug anyone other than me?
