As stated, MGW specifies the price they must be sold for, so all vendors charge the same as MGW itself. Order direct from MGW to ensure you get the latest version.

Only time I've seen the MGW discounted was for black Friday they did 10% off. Aside from that, it's hard to find a "deal" on one so you might as well order directly from MGW.

I walked my ten-year-old son through the entire install it took him an hour and 15 minutes so it isn't really that hard to install

Sounds more like it. I've done it on other car just not in the Corvette. I guess I don't understand the 2+ hour times. The others pop right out and back in easy as long as you park in neutral.

I thought the same thing haha. Im like no way this is going to take that long. Well i installed it last night and it was a good 2-3 hour job. You have to take the center console apart, the shifter and lower box off, assemble the new lower box, install dynamat, install heat shield material, put it back together. But man is it worth it. I was having some troubles hitting 3rd before and accidentally going into 5th. Now it just slides in like a lubed up college girl.

Great to hear another positive review. I thought the new version came with a new lower box as well?

yes it does but you have to take the stock lower out and switch the rod to the new lower box and bolt it together.

The shifter doesn't control the gate the driver and transmission control the gate selection. None of the shifters available are anything but a stick through a hole. The only difference is the size of the hole or the vertical positioning of the hole on the stick although there may still be some shifters like the Hurst or old Breathless ones that had springs that added more centering force but then restricted quick shifting into the other gates due to the added centering force. The transmission automatically centers the linkage inside the transmission into the 3-4 gate. You can see this when sitting still with the clutch depressed and just shoving the shifter forward toward 1st gear. As soon as it comes out of second it will pop over to the 3-4 gate. No need to assist it.

Shoving forward on the shifter will automatically take it from 2nd to 3rd. If the driver adds any sideways force like we used to do with a 4 speed it is easy to overshoot the 3-4 gate and get into the 5-6 gate.

If you are constantly getting 5th instead of 3rd it may be because you are grabbing the shifter the wrong way and then trying to aim it into third like we did with the old 4 speeds. However, unlike the old 4 speeds there is another gate to the right we can reach by overpowering the spring in the transmission.

The hardest gear to reach is 5th when you are trying to make the 4th to 5th shift at speed. The transmission wants to pull the shifter toward 3rd so the driver has to figure out how much force is required to move it over to the 5-6 gate. If the driver adds to much force they overshoot into 7th and if they don't add enough force they get 3rd instead. At 150 mph getting 3rd instead can be quite exciting. To avoid that and any potential car of bodily harm I make sure I will get 5th or 7th.

All I know is that this shifter kicks ***. I installed it in my Z06 last Friday and am very happy. On my previous Stingray, it had a very rough upshift from 1st to 2nd even when at operating temps. The MGW took care of that issue. I would highly recommend this shifter.

How about for those of us who can manage the stock shifter just fine? Can someone provide a link to an aftermarket shift ****?

Thanks,
