Default 2016 Z06 3Lz

I am looking at trading up from my 08 C6 Z51 coupe to a newer C7. I have a friend here in Louisville who is offering me a used 2016 Z-06 with a automatic transmission. This is a low mileage 3LZ car with virtually every option available including the carbon fiber package. This is almost to good a deal to pass up since I know it originally listed for over $110,000. Not crazy about the color or the carbon fiber package. I have driven this car over the last two years on several occasions and it is helasiously fast and completely stock. My quandary is whether to go this way or just buy a new 2019 grand sport automatic 2LZ Corvette which I can buy for a couple thousand less.

I have almost that exact same car, 3LZ - Z07 with Carbon package. No way I'd consider a GS if the Z06 was an option.

Just my opinion.

Z06, you will kicking yourself if you pass up the Z, especially since you have ridden & driven this car, the GS will seem very weak.

Odds are pretty good you will kick yourself if you go with a GS over the Z06. Get the beast and enjoy it!

There was some issue with overheating on the early supercharged Corvettes that were doing track days and I assume this was taken care of by 2016. Wouldn't be an issue with me anyway since the only track it will be on is the 1/4 mile. Thanks again for the feedback.

JMHO, if it's not exactly the color/options you would order then I would pass. Why own a car you are not 100% thrilled with. Same applies with the GS v the Z. You shouldn't live with less or settle if the price is what you can afford. There are some tremendous deals to be had on '17s/18s/ even '19s. W/O knowing what price you are looking at no one can really say if it's a good/great deal. PS: I have a '16 M7 Z.

Very good point ., I never understood the “I really wanted x but I could not pass up this lesser $$ “ ... especially in corvette world no one needs or could use a corvette ., so why settle.,?!

To me this is a no brainer. Unless you just can’t stand the color, I would get the Z06 and add the GM extended warranty. I recently traded my 2014 Stingray for an original owner 2016 Z06 with 6800 miles and put the extended GM warranty on it. I still have about 4 months to go on the 3/36 OEM warranty and then the GMEPP kicks in along with the 2 more years of powertrain warranty.

The power level of the Stingray/GS makes for a fun fast street car, but the Z06 is on a completely different level. For most daily driver just cruising around, there really isn’t much difference between the 460 HP and 650 HP. When you want to play a little, it’s a BIG difference.

I have a 16 Z07 3LZ and was lucky enough to get a great deal and the exact color combo I was looking for.

Drove it on a 16 hour road trip this past weekend and enjoyed every minute

Go for the 3LZ and the extra power

Do it - get the Z06 3LZ. That's precisely what I have except mine is a 2015. If I could change anything about it, I'd make it a 2016 so I had Carplay and the faster nav and front cameras.

But you already would have those!

Otherwise I wouldn't change a thing. Get it!

Your in the Z06 section where most of us own a ZO6 ! We are all very biased myself included. I would rather have a used Z06 especially one that you are familiar with any day of the week over a 2019 new grand sport!YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE BUYERS REMORSE EVERYTIME YOU SEE A Z06

Whatever you do get the car and color you want. Your spending a lot of money to settle on something you don't really want as your first choice. Plenty of used cars out there that has the options you want.

It wasn't.

Then you should be just fine.

Remember for the most part a GS just looks mostly like a Z06.

I have a sort of different thought on this. First, you haven't stated your great deal price. It sounds great to say that it has almost every option available, but there are some options that I know I wouldn't pay the $$$ for. I would not pay over $10K (yep) for any car that I didn't like the color of....period. Have you even priced the 17, 18, and 19 with the available discounts through the forum dealers, that would have the exact color and options that you would like? I don't pay a lot of attention to original MSRP, especially when I have no ideal of what they actually paid for it.

Tough choice but in my opinion if you go for the GS you are always going to think about passing up the opportunity to own a Z06.
