Default GM CAI Dealer Install

Bought the GM Cold Air Intake from shopchevyparts.com for $484.28 (includes shipping) and had my dealer install along with my 500 mile oil change today. Expected them keeping her overnight, but, to my surprise, had her back within 4 hours,

Total installed cost was $132.18

thought I would share my experience.

Before the haters comment, I did not purchase this for the modest 11HP gain (Z06) - I just liked the look of it, so a $600 investment
was worth it IMO.

I appreciate the info. I really like the looks of the intake as well. Please add a photo of your GM intake if you don't mind...

Well, haters gonna hate. But I think you got it installed for more than a fair price and in a reasonable time. Enjoy it!

Lol. People waste money all the time. A great mod if your going to do more to go with it down the road. 👍🏻

It is GM made and approved. Although there is some ambiguity on whether it needs to be GM installed, so for the $130 or so I elected to have my dealer install, especially since I have a GM extended B2B warranty.

For myself I had it installed at 501 miles, so I really haven't had a feel for the power the Z makes yet. I had the 500 mile break in so I could not go past 4500 RPM. I will never know this answer, sorry.

I really bought it just because I liked the looks of it over stock + GM part/no warranty issues. Any additional power is a bonus. I am also not a fan of the sucking sounds that some (not all) make, this one seems pretty quiet to me.

I like the looks of it.the only thing I think the dealer could have done with the install was run the hose under the CIA and not over it.would have looked much cleaner.

Is the hose long enough because it looks like they ran it the same way as the original stock intake.

Installed mine myself. It's a 15 minute job. The build quality of the box and filter and the fitment is much better than most aftermarket intakes. The hose is plenty long enough to run it just like stock. The directions have you add the extra hose guide on the driver's side corner of the box but I took mine off after I found the hose followed the corner better without it.

Didn't notice any gain in HP but possibly a little more whine. I added a Corsa Xtreme the next day so can't hear the blower anyway, lol.

The GM intake is nice, but we need a replacement intake tube without all the baffles.
