FYI: Mobil 1 ESP Formula 0W-40 Now Avaialble to Order
#21
I am not advocating the use of any particular oil. I am just posting my results with analyses performed on my engine in the link above. Others results may vary. After countless oil analyses that I have performed on various oils in various use scenarios in various engines, I still don't know anything compared to Mobil 1 and GM engineers. Therefore I tend to lean towards what the engine manufacturer recommends. We all can choose what we use in our engines. They are our engines so if what someone uses in theirs is not recommended and they feel comfortable with it then go for it. I just think I might lose in a shouting match between those engineers and myself if my engine grenades. That is why I ordered the Mobil 1 ESP 0W-40. When I get some use out of it I will post the oil analysis for comparison and we will see how it did! The ESP formula I got today is the one we have been waiting for.
I was also saying that if someone wants to gamble and go with the euro spec oil, which isn't dexos approved, you might as well at that point go with an even better oil than the 2, which is redline.
Otherwise it might be smart to just stick with M1 5w30 until it's true and clear the dexos approved ESP 0w40 hits the shelves for the taking.

I'm not talking about oil analysis or what one oil can do over the other etc, i am merely pointing out that for warranty sake (if it actually came down to it), going with a non dexos rated oil should really be used with caution. Even if it might or might not be better than the US ESP 0w40.

That's for the European 1L ESP 0W-40, try 19370233 for the 1QT version of ESP Formula 0W-40
Although their both ESP, the formulas differ slightly. I think the demand was higher than expected for GM and they had to import the similar formula until the American Formula ESP could be produced in quantity to meet demand.

I received the US SPEC oil from GM Wholesale Direct under that part number. It is in quart bottles as the pic shows above. Maybe they cross referenced the part number.
The Mobil part number of 123875 which is on the box is the correct part number for the US Spec oil.
