Default More rust under driver seat-2018 Z06, 718 miles.

Ok, I'm annoying and obsessive with my cars I'm sorry. But theres a reason I am this way today. What the heck is the rust from being a 2018? I know it has to have some type of moisture but is this worth another warranty issue ?

I doubt this would be covered under warranty because there's no actual damage and these aren't parts that were intended to have a visible, cosmetic finish. It's surface corrosion from atmospheric moisture. The only way you're going to stop it is to break the seats down and have the frames painted or powder coated.

Carbon steel will rust in the presence of moisture / humidity. If it really bothers you, sand off the rust and paint with Rustoleum.

Thanks guys...I've just had a lot of issues and it's really depressing me bc I'm paying a lot for this monthly. I just wanted to make sure. Also theres nothing like the ventilated seats or anything that could possibly run moisture down the seat tracks?

Wow....that looks horrible. Where do you live where it's so humid?

Contrary to the above comments, that sure looks like more than surface rust to me for a 700 mile car yet I can't say for sure though.

How long have you owned it?
R U original owner?
What's the other side look like?
What's the undercarriage look like?

If surface rust, maybe just that one side of the interior got wet.
Maybe those parts were missed when the protective coatings were applied.
I'd hate to think the car went through deep water.

I'm not sure if I would repair/ repaint myself or warranty repair that.
Either way the seat should be removed for an expert repair.
Or just prep and brush paint with the seat in the car, as the area is somewhat hidden from sight.

Good luck.

Take it back to the dealer. And get it replaced under warranty. The motor look faded as well, like that entire seat assembly was left out in the elements.

No reason for it to look that bad in less than a year.

Mine '17 has nothing like that, but it was never outside on a dealer lot. Maybe it rained, and the dealer didn't get the windows up in time?

What do you expect from a $90,000+ Corvette?

That's strange. Wonder if the dealer had the seat out for some reason.

Just checked mine, looks brand new. Yours looks like it has been in a puddle. Is the carpet wet? I would try the dealer for a warranty fix. Might be an idea to find out where the moisture came from. Once rust like that starts in breeds on itself and won't stop.

Rust would be devastating to the interior of a car that's made almost entirely of aluminum and plastic.

My wife left the windows down on her Mazda and it rained. We should probably sell the car before the rust termites reduce it to a pile of brown dust.

I would say it looks like the seat was sitting in water or sat in water and was sitting outside for a while. I would demand whole new seat total BS on a new car Tell them not acceptable.

Why bother responding if you don't have a solution to the problem. That is bare metal under there and even the painted motors are showing signs of rust that won't go away by itself. Who wants to ride around with what will become a rust ball over time.

I would have it replaced. I would not be comfortable with ANY part my car rusting.
