a new car should look new. no buyer's remorse when the problem is that it doesn't look new, it looks flooded. All kindly corvette forum members who would be doing an out of state buyer a solid by inspecting this car in a private resale would have flagged this car as water damaged if you looked under the seat, whether it showed up on a carfax as such or not. a dealership where the mechanic busts the body parts is not a case of buyer's remorse when there is no expectation of body damage with all the 100,000 c7 low-slung vettes on the road simply going in for a dealer-serviced oil change. if the buyer is lucky, GM will explain to him how liquid came into the car, corroded both painted/coated metal parts and continued to drip yellow rust down past the carpet into the floor. If the buyer is real lucky, a third party inspection will corroborate no internal water damage past the seating parts, which will all be replaced. if the dealers body shop is competent, the car's interior and exterior will again look like a seven month old nearly new car and the owner can get on with his life, perhaps using another NOVA dealership however. if it all goes **** up, the op is in NOVA, where there are more out of work attorneys working like Bruiser in one of Gresham's novels, than there are cockaroaches in an Arlandria tenament apartment.
As for BR, it hits us all from time to time. Unless the payment is killing you, you have a 3year/36k mile worry free ride with the first two years free maintenance including 2 more oil changes already paid for. Color changes can be had with a (removable) vinyl wrap, and one member posted here with pictures of changing a brand new GS from black to a Porsche orange color with vinyl for around $4k and it looked GOOD! love em or leave em, chevy tries to build a 100K mile trouble free ride, and so they run better than most exotics. Good luck with the final story on the seat rust.

Oh, that's right. Because GM parked the car in the drainage ditch outside the plant. At an angle.
Look, I'll concede that it doesn't look right. I still contend that it's nothing more than a sloppy carwash or as someone else said, a spilled acidic drink. It sounds like GM is doing the right thing in replacing the seat frame, even though the damage is 100% cosmetic. But damn, some of you guys hyperventilating that this car is one inspection away from a salvage title are really starting to get irritating.
You don't need a GM rep there yet. Go in and see what the Service Manager says and what they will do. I'm pretty sure they will replace it without any issues. If they don't and are saying that you spilled something or left the window open during a car wash, then ask for a GM Rep.

I think that the one seat was subject to water BEFORE it was installed at the factory.
Something was spilled there. That is not just surface rust. There is a pattern where the liquid was split in to two paths around that round rivet or bolt. There is also some kind of yellow substance on the floor mount with a run mark from the top and down the side to the floor.
Maybe some *** hat salesman spilled is coffee while it was still at the dealership and doused it with cleaner or something. who knows? It does looked weathered too.
I imagine if you take it back, they'll just point the finger at you and something you did to it.
At the dealer now, in the waiting room. So ill have new pics up and hopefully all is good. Meanwhile enjoy these ZR1 pics when I pulled in the bay!

OP- what was the final resolution? Some of us genuinely cared about your situation
they ordered all new seat frame, bottom foam padding and also back padding. They have no explanation what caused this but they are making it right. I applaud them.

Glad they stepped up to the plate on this as there was no way you should have had rust like that.. Congrats on the car and on getting a resolution in your favor!
