Default Borla X-Pipe - Wow!

I know that lots of folks have posted on Borla and Corsa x-pipes, but I wanted to share my thoughts after installing mine over the weekend. All I can say is WOW - what a difference!

I thought the OEM exhaust sounded 'decent' at WOT but, like so many others out here, wanted a little more... So, I picked up a Borla pipe from Meraki (best price I could find) and installed it over the weekend while doing an oil change.

Started the car and it sounded 'a little better' - until I got on it!!! I was very surprised at just how awesome the car sounded when you get on the gas (youtube videos seriously don't do it justice). It honestly reminds me of my racing days - totally impressed and worth every penny! Also, if the dyno reviews I've seen are true (coupled with my butt dyno), I've picked up several more horsies between the Halltech CAI and the x-pipe (and no CEL either)!

Totally awesome!

Good to know there is another satisfied customer. This is the 60547 model that maintains the NPP correct?

I need one....but I have been good and left this car stock for over a year. About to start slipping on down the hill.

Some how I go from loosening 1 exhaust clamp to heads off the car very quickly.

Yes. Everything else is OEM. The pipe goes from header flanges to rear axle cross-overs. The mufflers are OEM (and I also pulled fuse 42 - well before installing the Borla pipe).

Sounds great but would not pass inspection here in Ma. removes cats - to bad sounds like a nice upgrade for the cost

It doesn't remove the primary, monitored Cats, just the small secondary ones.

With the tranny tunnel on you can't see the front of the pipes, so I doubt you would have inspection problems. A good friend put long tube headers on his 2008 Viper. And the way those are routed they are covered by the body. Thus he has never had trouble passing smog in this Smog Crazy state of California. You couldn't get away with that on a Corvette but the SMOG folks here do a visual and that does not include removing things. So if they can't see it it isn't there.

Pulling fuse 42 keeps the NPP exhaust valves open.

The primary cats are in the OEM headers. Hard to say if removing the secondary cats would fail an emissions check.
