What would my '18 Z06 2LZ be worth in 2022?
I bought my 2018 z06 2lz automatic in december of 2017 for $78k and the msrp was $89,570. Ill probably put 4-5k miles a year on the car and get rid of it around 2021 or 2022. What kind of money would you roughly expect it to be worth if its in great condition, no accidents and is a 3 year old z06 with 18k miles on it? I know if the c8 is out or not or if it the 2022 z06 c8 is out will dictate the market but what would be a good guess? $40k? Because I see 2015 z06 non convertible models with high miles still selling for over $60k like this car here.2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 2LZ Coupe RWD - $61,475

a 2016 could be bought in 2015 so currently is 2.5 years old.
a 2018 bought in late 17 in 2022 would be 4.5 - 5 years old.
asking price is not always selling price.
C8 variable.
Market variable.

No way to know you may get in an accident or have it stolen too long range away for a guess that will likely be way off.
The Z06 has the better resale of the Corvette line up due to many GS and base C7 owners willing to upgrade then it is a real popular car.
Because of good looks and great performance.
I get complements all day long!

I did the PenFed payment saver loan on my 17. After 5 years the balloon payment is about 25k on what was a 100k MSRP car. I don't expect it to be worth a lot more than that. Maybe 30-35.

Agree with Timmy (Well, except for his grammar lol).......if you are buying it for an investment then it probably isn't for you. If you are buying it to have a helluva good time and enjoy.....who cares what it will sell for in 2022. It'll probably be worth more than a stingray. If you want to invest, I suggest you determine your tolerance for volatility and determine a good, well diversified efficient frontier for your holdings and watch your money grow......kinda boring.....Z06, not so boring but hell yeah fun. Bottom line, don't beggar yourself buying a car that you can't afford. Don't consider a contemporary car an "investment"...they aren't the ones we mere mortals can afford (the latest sweedish dangegish eggishon 6400 SVV309IRRByorkByork for example (it started of at $2m and of course you only put 21 miles on it....sigh). In a nutshell, if you can afford it, don't consider it an investment because it's not, just buy it and enjoy it. My wife's Z06 already has 12K miles on it. She still smiles every time she sees it or drives it. It'll probably get 100+K on it but she loves it. We never even remotely considered what the resale price would be....the smiles are more than enough interest.

4 or 5 years on most vehicles is 50 or 55 percent of actual purchase price ....
Enjoy your awesome sports car...

Just know that your 2018 will be worth less than it is now in 2022. Enjoy the car for what it is and don't worry about trade in prices.

In 2022 it will be worth exactly $9,451.27, assuming good condition, documented maintenance records, less than 3 farts retained in the passenger seat and a jar of peanut butter in the glove box.

$45K, look at 2013 C6Z's. They are 5 years but close, those are still $45k roughly. 2015's are almost 4 years old now and still mid-high $50,000.

My BS guess would be in the 50k range.
And why its so hard for people to just answer the damn question or not respond is beyond me. People spend more time telling you what you should worry about or God forbid you ask a question that’s been answered before...”use the search option”. Well guess what I just used the “search” for ‘whatever’ topic and then all I see is smart allic answers when it’d probably take just as much time to just answer the question.

Stupid question. Who the hell knows what something is going to be worth in the future.

Since the c7 z06 has been out since 2015 model year...next year watch the price of 2015 c7 z06 s and that’s about what your four year 2018 version will be worth in 2022..give or take five percent.
usually a new generation introduction at most takes around five percent off the price....of the previous generation with the exception of the first few months when inventory on the previous generation tends to inflate as consumers rush to the latest and greatest model..
leasing companies usually find 3 year old cars in general depreciate 50 percent...in the private sector sales we can estimate five years for the same type of depreciation.
i would use that as a general rule for almost any vehicle.
the fourth year is close give or take five or ten percent as well.
and of course it depends on color, options and wear.
sometimes a garage Queen gets a few dollars more but what kind of ownership fun is that?
all that said...under 7500 miles a year? No accidents in popular color and options...I’ll reaccess my best guess of your 78k dollar c7 z06 at 47501 dollars in four years. (Kidding)
i think your question was a fair question.
i have over the past twenty years found the introduction of a new model does not destroy residual values although on the immediate introduction there is a 6month dip as consumers rush to sell existing corvettes to buy the latest and greatest...
then pricing rebounds a little on previous generation as the second hand buyers swoop in to get amazing deals on performance icons ...
the rear mid engine c8should find many generation corvettes for sale as this will truly be a totally new driving experience...
rear mid engine sports cars have a really different driving expeirence like the light turn in response...
its going to grab a lot of previous gen corvette owners as will the much closer line of sight to the road because of no engine under the hood..
sure the trunk space will be split in two and possibly slightly less...but that’s no big deal...
persoanlly i I think they 650 hp c7 z06 will hold its value exceptionally well the first few years of the near 500 how rear mid engine corvette...
the c7 z06 will out accelerate the standard c8 ...and for many that matters a lot...
even i I may go for a preowned c7z06 as one of the coolest deals for one of the coolest most powerful reasonably price deals if the c8 is as expensive as some rumors are touting...
i never bought a preowned car in forty forty years of buying new cars...
its certainly tempting...and I always say I will consider it and then I tend to just buy new anyway...
the c7z06 under fifty the way most of you guys keep them I say is a hell of a deal...
ok...fifty grand for a four year old c7 z06 sounds about right....maybe 52?
three years old probably 56 grand...maybe 58? Since your mileage per year is under 10k a year maybe a little more..
650 HP is why your cars may hold value better than originally expected..
plus the roof comes off...although I think manual versions will hold value a little better...
nostagia for rowing gears is a thing for Ferrari’s and porsches so it might hold true for the z06as well.
