Starting to think about a Z06. Opinions from previous Vette owners.

You guys are too funny getting upset that others find a C6 to have some positive traits. A new chassis isnt always all upgrades. For me, the C7s biggest downfall is its weight.

I have not heard of anyone having issues with the supercharger. That being said I moved up from a 2015 Stingray Convertible to a 2019 Z06 Convertible. The Z06 is in one word fantastic. The power is there in every gear, the ride is great, sound is awesome I mean really nothing not to like. I also had a 2008 Coupe and I should add the C7 no matter which model makes the C6 look and feel outdated.
Get the Z06, and you will not regret it.

I too am in the "multi" Corvette owners club. My current 17 GS is #45. ALL Corvette generations are completely different from their previous ones. My suggestion is to go out and drive what you are interested in. And be realistic on what you are going to use it for. ie: Performance driving, show car/event weekends or daily driver.
My best explanation of that is my runs of C6's. I had a Z06 and Zr1 on order at the same time. I was upgrading from a C6 Coupe at the time and had an opportunity for allocation so I ordered both, knowing I was only going to actually own one of them and sell the other (was a different time back in 08-09). Anyway, I drove both Z06 and Zr1, and chose the Z06. Though it was less power,(still a rocket ship) I personally enjoyed the "free spirit" of the car more than the 'hold this" approach.
My cars are basically garage queens, I just drive them for fun or going to events. Although I truly enjoy "spirited driving" rarely does it happen. For me, the GS made more sense. The performance is still way better than what many can grasp, yet still has the look of the wide body.
It is all about what makes you feel as the one writing the check. The rest is just opinions, and numbers in a bank account...

I purchased a new 2014 C7 Z51 when they first came out. What a car! However, DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF DRIVING A Z06/Z07. Took Z07 for a spin and I’m here to tell you, the only similarity is maybe the looks. The Z07 is a completely different car than the Stingray.
I’ll admit after being a person that purchased one of the first Stingrays, I was tired of people bragging about the Z06/Z07 and comparing it to the Stingray. Now I get it! However, not everyone needs the performance of the Z06/Z07 and the Stingray is perfect for them. Or, you can buy a Grand Sport and have the look of a Z06 and the performance of a Stingray. It’s all good! My real problem started when I saw the Stingray next to the Z07. End of story...

It is really just a matter of what is important to you. As most have said, take your time, consider all your options, and go do test drives.
I LOVE the look of the C7 Z06 and test drove one and it was awesome. I, in the end, went with my C6 ZR1 Centennial Edition.
The targa top was not that important to me as I live in North Dallas where it is hot more days than not. Both are supercharged and make amazing power, but the ZR1 is lighter. In the end the exclusivity of the ZR1 is what sold me. I have 1 of only 206 Centennial ZR1's ever made. That is kinda cool and was a buying point to me. If I could have one of each in my garage I probably would, but my choice was the ZR1.
Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Thanks for all of the opinions!!!! I am going to sit back and keep researching and will test the Z one of these days. I want to make a good decision as all of my cars now get driven, so want to make sure its up for the task. Seems like I am leaning towards C7 Z just because my LS3 coupe is just satisfactory power for my liking. Now to search the forums about the good and bad and issues within different years....
Thanks again for all the good feedback!

45th Corvette. My wife says I have issues.
Bought my first one in 1982, was a 65 in not such great shape.. This pic is from 1986 after we rebuilt it to "show condition",
Some were keepers, some were just fix and flip. And of course, wish I had kept a few, Currently I have an 02 Z06 and 17 GS. Maybe I do have issues...

And the C6 with more mods could be made faster than the C7. That wasnt really my point though. The C6 had less power, was faster (yes with mods but still was making less power than a stock C7Z) but was way less driver friendly. Much more likely to get a driver in trouble than the C7. In point, the C7 handles power much better that the C6 platform, but at the expense of weight and aero that hold it back.

ive had them all. The new Z is the way to go. Left over 17's can be stolen right now from dealerships with over 25 grand off easily obtained. I believe that will all end this month however, so hurry up.

Someone said a C6 Z06 feels faster than a C7 Z06.? Let me LOL @ that!
C7 Z06 is just pure wicked, I love the rear, the taillights, the 4 exhaust, everything about it.

I made the switch from an '09 convertible to a '17 Z06 convertible. Was a difficult decision at the time but the difference is profound and well worth it.
The personality and feel of the two cars is difficult to describe and the only way to really appreciate is to drive both. I loved the C6 but the C7 Z is a different experience and I have discovered I drive the C7 far more than I ever drove the C6- it's that good. The performance delta is huge but oddly, the increase in performance is very usable daily. I initially shopped the Grand Sport, poo-pooing the "garish" un "unusable" HP gains of the Z06 but timing allowed for a Z06 instead and thankful every time I start it. My observations have been that the Z is a great balanced daily driver that adds tremendous smiles-per-mile.
As for reliability with the addition of the blower keep in mind that the LT4 platform was well tested and many would argue that the supercharger is under-powered for the engine's actual potential. I have zero concerns about reliability but concede that fuel economy is less than the GS or Stingray but that's likely more a result of my childish sprints that take advantage of the amazingly flat torque curve of the LT4!
Go with the C7 Z and you'll be astounded in the difference between it and the C6...

A stock c7z06 might take a stock c6z06 from a dig up to 80 mph by a car length or 2 then the c6z will gain and by 120 mph it’s bye bye c7z on up to top speed where the c6z06 is 8 to 10mph faster.

I feel like a c7z is faster all around than a c6z. My c6z was highly modified, so i don't recall their stock speed/pull.
