Default Hellcat vs ZO6 A8's

Thinking of a change and want to know if anyone out there owns or has driven both A8's.What are your opinions. I only have one as My local will not let the Z's be road tested. The Hellcat in track mode using the paddle shifters is a beast and bangs out shifts to my satisfaction. What say you when comparing the Z auto with paddles in track/ race mode.?

Dude you're on a roll with these threads.

You really have to go out and drive the cars.

if you go auto with the z, you'll be disappointed with it because your auto in your hellcat is way better.

I can agree with this. Though my Z is a M7, I did test drive A8’s. My Hellcat is an auto and that transmission shifts very smooth and quick.

I've driven both and I am disappointed by the A8 Z06 in terms of feel when compared to the Hellcat. I suspect the upshifts are actually faster in the Z06 A8 but they don't "smash" as hard as the Hellcat A8 or do they sound as satisfying.

I have a Abarth 124 Auto which is like a ~$30K car and the transmission shifts better and feels snappier than my A8 Z06.

yeah I am actually very impressed with the shifts on the hellcat given it's not a dual clutch. Everytime it shifted you can actually feel it through the seat lol. It was very exciting I'll admit.

I have driven both extensively. For drag racing the Z06 can't be beat, if both are stock. On the road course the HC shifts better, but the Corvette out handles it so far the HC can't keep up at all.

And to help you with a future post the Demon falls in the same bracket. The Redeye is yet to be seen.

The 800 pound weight difference with brick aerodynamics is the elephant is the room.

hc does shift a lot better. Drag racing of course z will do better. The auto is geared for that. And is like 700lbs lighter.

in terms of the actual trans. The hc unit is clearly a better trans.

Every time I see a Hellcat at the track (road course), I giggle to myself but I respect the owner for bringing it out.

Yea I guess its all relative, as compared to the cars of the recent past this 4400lb Hellcat can out handle a bunch of the stuff we thought handled darn good 20, 30, 40 or 50 years ago.
So yea it may not handle with a full blown sport car of today's era but it handles pretty darn well for its size and weight.

Jake,
don't you think the mfg's designed the cars for different purposes? One straight line the other road course??? One more visceral maybe? The other smoother and quicker? Try driving an A8 in "D" at 9/10 on track!!! All I can say is it has to be experienced!

You should see a pristine hellcat on the drift course running with 1500 dollar 240sx's and miatas lol

All the drift competitors laugh at my friend for taking such a nice car to a practice drift event.

The car is a beast though. Regardless if it can't turn. It does everything else very very well.

I've had my share of girls with not so pretty faces but incredible bodies. Sometimes those are better than the ones who are very pretty

I own one of each and concur that the HC's A8 shifts better than the Z's A8. Both cars have their merits.

Nuff said

Awesome pair of cars man. Best of both worlds. The HC is seriously a monster.
