New designed front fender cove vents finally here!
Didn't want to post until I saw them with my own eyes... today was the day. Dropped the car off to my dealer for the replacement and whatever they end up doing with the chipped paint in the corners. Hoping for simple touch up as opposed to respraying fenders.
as you can see in the pics. The ONLY difference is the little plastic nibs which sit behind the corners to keep the vent out 1/8"... 21mos ago I first brought this to Chevy's Attention lol... 21mos... for this...
Service Manager's Laptop.. i have high hopes lol. He owns a Vette also
Thats what it looks like now. (I requested carbon flash vents to replace the shark gray if anyone was wondering. Glad they did it without hassle).
Same on both sides. Plastic cuts into the fender they are razor blade sharp
Jeff Strausser who I met at Carlisle last year was instrumental in helping FINALLY get these for me. According to him they aren't fully released yet and had the plant ship direct to my dealer. Took one day. The service manager put them right in his office. Great people.
That's Jeff. Gave me his cell. Who does that? Guy is awesome.
anyway I'll keep you guys posted on results so you know what you're in for if you try to have it done.

Thanks for the update, however I'm surprised you decided on the Carbon Flash side vents as you had one of the rare Shark Gray/Shark Gray combos with the Twilight Blue package. Are the other vents still Shark Gray?

1 of only 8 ever produced.
the hood vent and the lower brake ducts are carbon flash. Just the rear top scoops and taillight bezels are shark gray now. And I think I will leave the rear top scoops gray. I would NEVER change the taillight bezels out. They look amazing in body color imo.
And once I changed the hood vent to carbon flash to match the OEM Jake stinger I felt it was better with carbon flash just ordered the emblems too.
I'm retaining the original Shark gray vents allready went over that with Chevy.
it's a Corvette. It's the law of Nature to modify it...cant fight it.
Love the black gray black. I think the taillamp bezels stand out too much in contrasting color.

Yeah that's a strange combo for a black car.
did the vents dig into your fenders also or no?
every shark gray Z06 I've ever encountered even new on the lot has the same problem.

Right. That's good at least.
from what I gather all the 19s have this modified vent. It only took them almost 4yrs to figure it out.. a little plastic nib. Think about all the money they wasted having to respray all those fenders. Mindboggling.

Melting Slicks
This is good news! May I ask what the part numbers are for the fender cover vents? I have a couple of things to talk to the dealer about so I might as well include this.

So, won’t the nibs still rub against the paint, but just not show the damage?

I will post up the PN or program etc when I get the car back. Too much going on Monday morning at the dealer at 800am to even inquire..
and the box they were in (one box) was weird it. was flat cardboard like a pizza box and looked like a makeshift package job.
Maybe this text is more of an explanation as to why it wasn't in any conventional Parts box? And they arrived the day after this text. Awesome response. Albeit 21mos later lol. I'm just hoping and Praying for an uneventful repair....please God. This is the first time the car is at the dealer since I picked it up almost 2 yrs ago...

Picked the Car up couple hours ago
Hats off to Seacoast Chevrolet.
The vents were installed at Jost Auto Body in Wall Township, NJ.
they airbrushed the paint chipped corners by the vents. Outside of the body shop dust in and around the vents (asked them to not detail it for obvious reasons lol) you wouldn't know this car was touched. Amazing match to the paint and I cannot believe I cant find the blend.
my fenders are half xpel'd so I was glad that I didn't have to have that redone (and I would've gone full fender this time).
I'll put up a video after the car is clean. Right now its filthy on the outside. Inside only casualty is a little shop dust on the Lloyd's driver mat back corner ( I had a soft blanket over seat and towel on center console plus a fabric see through steering wheel cover to protect the Alcantara). I'll clean that up shortly just waiting for sun to come down behind the house.
Also did the mag ride update
car only sat for few hours.
the difference was still astounding. So smooth and less jittery on older surfaces. Impacts are completely softened in touring. I am SO HAPPY...
so here's a dealership experience that went perfectly!
service manager took care of me from start to finish. Just fantastic group there. And their Corvette tech "Tommy" used to work at Surf Chevy then at ECS and has been there for couple of years. He's the man when it comes to corvettes (used to and may still have a turbo C5 running low 10s when that was fast lol).

I agree. Almost two years ago I took my fender vents out and lightly grinded down the extra plastic on the backside. It fits perfectly now with no issues. Why GM has taken this long is unfair to say the least.

Glad to hear you found a good dealer service dept.! If you get a chance plz show the "fabric see through steering wheel cover." Not sure what that is.

Lol. It's a white transport steering wheel cover.
I test drive a Volvo SUV couple years ago and had it in my pocket didn't realize until i was home.
comes in handy.

^^^ Oh yeh! Of course. I thought you meant some type of aftermarket steering wheel cover. You're talking about those relatively thin, almost gauzy type covers. Now, I remember them. Thanks for s'plaining!
