Default Modded Z06 owners, top speed ?

So I finally got a 15' Z06/Z07 A8, I love the car, truly my dream car after owning a bunch of old school muscle.

I'm playing w/ the idea of 200MPH as a performance goal

- What kind of mods does it take to get the HP/TQ to push this flying brick 200mph?
I'm considering 2650/2900 blower if needed, but hoping to get there without major surgery
- What top speed have you hit w/ what mods ?
- Is a specific alignment needed for high speed runs?
- Anything other "must" do's?
You Texas Mile guys chime in....

Friend tells me buy a C6 ZR1 it'll be easier due to aero

The only mod I have is the Halltech CAI and oil catch

I got up to 190 MPH three times.

800rwhp should do it in the mile just strip all the aero off for that event.
I’ve made several runs in the 1/2 at 170+ with 750-800 that should make 200 in the mile but I took all the the aero off except side skirts. I then sprayed up to a 300shot and made it to the low 190’s in the 1/2 which was flying. I always wanted to join the 200mph club in the mile but I found doing it in the 1/2 is more exhilarating as the acceleration is addicting. I’ll be at the next 1/2mile with 1500+ rwhp so it’s going to be fun!! Plus 1/2mile events let you run DR’s the mile doesn’t.

With all of the aero removed from the car (front splitter, side skirts and rear spoiler) it more than likely has the power to run 200. I would probably plug the front brake ducts to keep air from entering the wheel wells as you really don't need brake cooling for one stop at the finish of the run. Another thing that could be done is to switch to Stingray front wheels to reduce tire width and ditch the fender spats. Adding an air dam that drops down to within an inch of the ground from the very front of the fascia like the NASCAR Speeday cars have would probably keep air from under the car while reducing front end lift. Reducing the front air intake to as small as possible would probably help as well.

GM claimed the top speed for a stock C6Z with 505 HP was 199. The problem is you need some place to run long enough to get up to that speed. Boosting HP gets you up to that speed in a shorter distance so you can actually find a place with enough room to see that speed.

Look at the Jay Leno video showing him running the C7 ZR1 at 204 mph with full aero. They were on the GM Test Track with lots of distance to get up to that speed and even with 750 HP it took a lot further than a mile to get there with all of that aero gear hanging on the car. The final thing to worry about would be rear gear and transmission gear selection so the HP Curve lines up with the speed you are trying to attain.

Do you mind listing the mods your car currently has & what you're going to do to get up to 1500+ rwhp?

Previously had 15% Pulley, headers, cam, intake, no cats, tuned to E-50, N2O spray bar bars, NX controller, LPE timing retarder, Dual Fuel pumps and a few other goodies. Made 800rw +- and 900+ on spray.

Fast forward 4 months of car being in shop doing a totally new build.
LME 376” all forged engine, Procharger F-1X port injection and pretty much every upgrade available on the market that is proven added in. Car is set for startup this coming Monday and tuning stages will begin. We plan on really letting the blower eat at 30-35psi+ then take to 1/4 & 1/2mile events and see what it can do. Here’s a pic as it currently sits awaiting startup and tuning.

Wow. Well, it should certainly get up & go. That build sounds expensive. Even with your previous setup the car wasn't a slouch. Good luck with the tuning & getting the kinks worked out. Be sure to post some updates on what kind of power it ends up putting down & how it runs in the 1/4 & 1/2.

Lower your car, every inch lower, is one less inch of air that the top of your car has to move out of the way at 200mph. Its a big deal, makes a big difference.

200 isn't impossible to hit with a C7Z. Pretty sure I've seen them as 180s from the factory but that is with the Z07 package on it. If you take the tall spoiler off you should be pretty close with no mods. We made a couple passes in our shop car with the baby spoiler on and trapped 129 mph brought it back to the track with maybe 75 more hp and trapped 125 mph with the taller spoiler on (no bridge). The car ran .5 sec better but still lost 4 mph because of the taller spoiler and that is just in the 1/4. On the top end those spoilers are parachutes.

Toss a pulley on it for some extra boost make sure you have the smaller spoiler on the back and you'll probably be right there.

I have been 184 with a lot of car left. My car isn't stock. I just didn't have enough real estate. It got to 150 fairly quickly and then kept on climbing, but not as quickly. After about 150 it starts getting real really fast. That's when I rolled up the windows. I didn't think I was going to be able to stretch it out as much is why I had the windows down.

16Z M7 making 631/690 went 197 at Mojave magnum mile. Broke out of the 190 class. Had to stay at 190. Rest of the day was high 180’s. Actually got a 2nd place plack in the 190 class at 188.8. 2300 heartbeat goes on in 2 weeks. To bad the FAA shut us down. With the extra power from the 2300 heartbeat I’m sure 200 would have been no problem. My 09 Z with a forged LS7 went 200.2 mph.

The 2300 makes a huge difference the Halltech intake and 2 inch headers. 200 would easy! You have 800hp!
