Restoring totaled 2017 Z06
There is a series of videos on YouTube about 2 young men who purchased a wrecked z06 and do a major
rebuild. 10 videos so far with more to come. They get a little tedious in spots but some real interesting stuff.
For those interested search the tittle to this thread or goonzquad.

I watched them all and learned a lot about these cars. It's cool to see it all opened up to get an idea of how stuff is put together.

Their latest Z06 vid, they went to drag strip and it was their first time. 1/8 mile they did a 7.76 @95mph. 60 foot 2.09 or 2.19. They had TC on too lol. Really good for their first time. THeir first race for the day was 9.0 and then improved to 7.76 that was really good. They going to be really fast when they are more familiar with the car I bet.
7.76 that's about 12.05 in 1/4, not bad with TC on and their first time. They got CAI and exhaust I think it's about 40 rwhp? not bad at all.

So funny when they said "I forgot to turn on the TC and tires were spinning"
But guys would you buy or let them fix up your vette? Many times they just kind of half know half figuring it out as it goes, to put back the front end hoses/lines etc they would take pics at dealer and follow the pics hoses diagram. Can you do it that way? I don't think that's 100% you can still screw up with the pics, need a manual and a more professional approach. ( I am mechanically inclined and would love to see what you guys say about their work) Another time they went to junk yardto get some parts but it's for C7 and not Z06 etc amateur things like that.
Maybe need a manual, or check forums and know exactly what to do before going into it instead of figuring it out as you go?

Would i I buy it that car or buy a totaled car repaired and blessed by a dealership. Maybe if the price was really good. But Probably —it’s not about saving 10 or 20k — I wouldn’t because of the potential time and hassle chasing down problems that might occur. I rather just take my time value shop a good deal & buy new , take care of the car and not crash it.

Don’t kid yourself — the 20 something year old at the dealership is doing it the same way.

Another question, the way they fixed the frame, they say it's as good if not better than OEM. Is that true? I mean collisions can happen in any angle, if it's at an angle won't it bend the cut up part first?

figuring it out as you go is sometimes the way to do it. They've done it right. I'm sure they did their YT research, as well as had pics from the dealer, parts diagram, and basic common sense. A car is a puzzle, i work in a body shop and i paint for a living. I do not get involved in putting a nose together. It's tough and takes some memory to remember how things came apart. I had a 2018 ZL1 that needed a nose, we waited about 2 months for parts while the nose was apart, and our body man put it back together almost like muscle memory. Some people have it, some dont.

I restore and work on vintage airplanes, mostly Piper Cubs. It’s amazing what you remember when you start putting things back together if you initially took it apart. Those kids are good. I imagine there’s a lot of mechanical background in the family. The frame guy is good too.

Yeah they said asking price 67k. I think it's about right for non salvaged 2017 z06 with 600 miles, but not salvaged.
Any idea what's a fair price for salvaged? Not familiar with salvaged cars.
They are getting a nice stable of cars thought, that new garage they got is nice. and camaro zl1 build is nice too, maybe I can learn something from that to z06, other than the same engine the rest are all different right?
