Have you got any pics on the spray bars on the 2.9? Any reason you went for the 2.9 over the stock blower / 2300? Also how much timing are you pulling out when on the juice? Are you using 91 on juice. As well?

very awesome man, nice to see these cars winning again.

Do you have the stock torque converter?

Also, if you have stock axles, half shafts, whatever they are called, in the rear....

I highly advise you upgrade those. I know a person who lost their life in a high torque car when one of these snapped on a normal highway acceleration, and forced their car to make a quick left turn across 4 lanes of traffic and into the wall.

I don't, the whipple went straight from nitrous outlet to my installer. I had stock blower on 150 shot, whipple doesn't have to spin as fast to make the boost so it generates a lot less heat. Pulling out 4 degrees on LNC box when nitrous activates. Yes 91 in the tank and c16 sprays when nitrous hits on top.

Yes everything is stock in the drivetrain. I think the axles are fine being its an auto and the nitrous ramps in The tires break loose before the axles will in my opinion.

2.9L Whipple with spray bars Nitrous express system with NOS progressive controller, stand alone tank with c16, and Lingenfelter LNC timing box all on a 200 shot.
Stainless works headers with no cat, stock from cat back
Haltech CAI
18" Forgeline wheels with MT ET Street R tire

The install was completed by CAP and to me they are the best shop in the Mid West. All this tuning took a while to dial in but Brian Hunstbarger was able to get it perfect.

I live in Denver and our track is generally at 9000' + DA, with that being said my best is a 9.70 at 148.9MPH. Best 60' in the car was 1.4 but I unfortunately ran out of spray on that pass and haven't been able to do it since. Best standing half mile here is Denver is 177.8MPH.

The best attribute of this setup to me is by far the street rolls, it makes 1200tq on the hit at 3500 RPM and puts the power down perfectly. I have literally sprayed at LEAST 600lbs of nitrous through the motor at this point with absolutly no issue. Not one part on the car has broken...I am even on the same plugs from the install.

Here is a little compilation I made of the car. (apologize for shitty iphone quality videos and lack of editing skillssssss)

im sitting here, scratching my head... what happens if a person is already making 900 at the wheels with the whipple, and then runs nitrous? I feel like the stock engine has to give out sooner or later

To the OP, did you do NOTHING to the valvetrain/lifters... nothing?

im mind blown, very amazing for a stock engine to hold this with no issues. 1350+ crank torque is usually a killer, as is 1150 crank HP on most motors. GM did a good job.

What is ballpark cost to add such a nitrous kit to a car, assume the person had the whipple as well.

Thanks
-Mike

OP how much is this making boost only? Be interesting to see how much extra the 200shot is adding?

i thought he said he was in the 700's at the wheel before, but that post vanished... or im losing my mind and i read it on another thread about another car. THe comment i saw said it is still on stock fuel system without the nos factored.... if this is not his car, and he is making more, i am glad you re-asked this question because the "900hp on just the blower", question, i asked a few posts above, was based on my belief his car being at 7xx at the wheel without the NOS

Looking at your mod list, how are you adding the extra fuel needed when not on spray but going WOT? What is your boost level on the Whipple?

Gives me hope I can hover around 1000hp on my stock valvetrain. I already upgraded my valve covers and relocated my coil packs like you so I can go aftermarket when I upgrade my cam. But yeah same as you huge money in my build MINUS valvetrain upgrades. This shows how damn well GM built these motors. Insane...
