Default Corsa Setup Too Loud, need advice

Ok... so I’m sure i’ll probably catch come crap for asking this question, but would really like to know if anyone has some experience with this.

I picked up my ‘16 Z06 this year and always loved the corsa extreme sound. I know someone that works there & i live right by their headquarters / manufacturing sits. So naturally one of the first mods i did was have corsa put on the extreme axle back along with their double X mid-pipe. That was march this year.

Fast forward to this summer after getting more involved with this car and hearing some of my friends cars, i found myself wanting more power. Needless to say i picked up corsa’s headers and had them recently installed. Here is my problem, this combination is way to loud for my liking. When youre on the throttle it makes my ears ring in the car with a full pull. What can i do to quiet it down yet retain the extreme mufflers? I called Kooks and they said their green cats version of their mid-pipe should fit, but dont want to wast my time and money if its not going to quiet it down.

Here is a video of how loud it it:

Called extreme for a reason bro...
Ditch the cans for some factory NPPs.

I think you should reconsider and change to the Corsa Sport mufflers. I have always thought the extreme set up was too loud for my liking.

I’m catless along with the corsa midepipe, I find the NPP is just about perfect with this setup. I can still
run quite in stealth mode or LOUD in track

The tint is 20% ceramic film.
For the trade I appreciate it but I also have the factory NPP still and was trying to go to that as a last result because I love the corsa tone. I reached out to my family friend that works at Corsa and they are going to mount up some sports to compare for me. I think they want me to buy a system for my other car lol (charger scat pack).

The headers bring a lot of noise and largely govern the tone.
Swap in the NPP since you still have it; you might like it.
cats will quiet it down a bit as well.
Good luck!

When you have headers on the car you really don’t need different mufflers. My friends with headers love having NPP to make it quiet when cruising because it is nasty in a very good/bad way in sport mode when the valves are open. Basically it’s a waste of $2500 when you have headers because it’s super loud already.

Agreed.. Hindsight is 20/20 right? lol Basically I never intend to do headers but got carried away with looking for more power without being invasive to the motor yet.

Don’t feel bad, as most of us that have done modding have gone down a road looking for improved performance, styling etc and found out we made a mistake and have had to retrace our steps. The important thing is to eventually get it where you want it to be and you’ll enjoy it.

BigJay, I was in the same EXACT position as you last summer. I loved the super loud sound of the headers - xpipe - corsa extreme setup. However, given that my neighbor's kids bedroom (across the street) faces directly opposite my driveway, the loud bark in the morning when starting up the car sounded like a cannon going off each time. No lie.

So...I had to get rid of the Extremes if I wanted the neighbors to continue waving hello to me.

DON'T listen to everyone here saying to go back to Factory NPPs. It will sound like sh t. Yes, it will still be loud when the valves are open, but the tone of the exhaust will be raspy as hell and you'll hate it. I know because I've heard it on a friend's car.

Go with the Billy Boat Fusion exhaust. It still retains the NPP, which helps a little. Another idea is the Borla ATAK, which is similar loud as the Extremes, but also come with NPP. I wish I knew that before buying the Billy Boats but it's all good.

great info! Thanks. I had figured all header/open valve exhaust would sound similarly. Definitely need some type of valve option with headers though.

Lol reminds me of when I added headers to my c6 z06. It had borla exhaust and catless x-pipe.. Good God when I added the headers it wasn't driveable. Especially the drone on my highway commute.

I ended up swapping the exhaust back to the stock ones and it was much much better.

Good luck OP. Getting the perfect sound is tough.
