Hertz Renting the Z06 Maybe Not the Best Idea

Hertz is renting 650 horsepower Z06s to their customer base. If this sounds like a bad idea, it probably is. Here are 5 reasons why.

It's not a big deal.....Enterprise Rent A Car has an exotics division in some major cities/markets. I've rented different exotics from them while on vacation and they require specific proof from your insurance company that you'll be covered. Your insurance company knows what you're doing and agrees to what you're doing. Hertz has proof that you are covered for the value of the car and off you go....really simple since everybody and everything is covered should the SHTF. Once you get to know the agent and they see your rental history, you can often negotiate more free miles than what is posted.
I'm guessing a Z06 will run close to $1000.00 per day....that already weeds out a lot of people that may be "problematic".

I'm sure most who end up renting a Z06 will be familiar with high performance cars & how to drive them responsibly. Perhaps a few cars will end up wrapped around a tree or in a ditch but that can happen to anyone in a 650 hp car if they're not careful.

Shelby Mustang
Me too. Years ago I rented two C6 convertibles while on business in FL on two occasions & two C6 coupes when I went on a couple of 1,100+ mile long road trips (rented them with Amex reward points). All four cars had low mileage & were in good condition. Though I remember reading an article about the Hertz/Shelby Mustang rentals that were available back in the '60s. I guess people would rent those & then take them out to the drag strip & drive the hell out of them & then return them to Hertz. Lol

my z06 reminds me a bit of a Malibu or impala I rent from hertz on business trips. So this falls right in line.

I tried to rent one in Sept 2018. Calling and going down the their office and they could not tell me where you could rent one. They said at the time maybe in Miami or Los Vegas. I would have liked to rent one, to help me decide, but settled on a new GS. At the time it was just a Sting Ray, not GS or Z06. They acted like that was an old program, that there were none to rent. Nobody ever drop one off from another location ever. This is in the Detroit area. Even their web pages acted like you could UNTIL you chose a location and then it said N/A. After typing in several locations I gave up. Then I see this on the Forum. Which I did not know at the time. Now I just seen a couple of ads on the TV about being able to rent them. Well maybe. Happy with what I now have.
Can not wonder maybe they only rent where it is above 45 degrees year round.
Wondering if they are having any issues with cracked rims as well.
Wonder if they have more than 2 of them to rent out.
