Default What clutch are you using for 1000+

The EV1150 package car is blowing the clutch up on the dyno. We cant get past 943whp@16.5psi with clutch slipping in and out and have ALOT of boost to add. Need a clutch that will reliably handle up to 1200whp/1100wtq turbo power.

We are suppliers for Mantic and LOVE the product but for replication of this EV1150 package on other M7 cars we may need to think about price point vs. capability. The Mantic Triple, which is what we would use, is nearly $3k customer cost.

What clutch are you using for this power level and how is it holding up? Pros and Cons? Thanks for the feedback

I'm not worried about the cost for the shop car, we are suppliers for Mantic, Monster, McLeod and others.

I am concerned about keeping the EV1150 package as cost effective as possible for package customers. We began this project to provide 1kwhp on a budget.

We have always used mantic on customers individual builds but I am curious about owners experiences with other brands.

If you have experience with other brands great; if you just dropped in to make non informed comments keep it moving brother

Why not? Does having a 1k hp car mean that one has to get ignorant about spending?

Ignorant? No. But there's no such thing as a cheap/inexpensive, reliable car with those levels of power.

Agreed I made a harsh statement, but it boggles my mind trying to pinch pennies at those power levels. There's no such thing as a budget 1000hp car. That's an asinine goal/statement.

If you have a brand you've used successfully, (ie mantic)... stick with it

So there is no such thing as a budget 1000+ car. I beg to differ. In fact I sincerely believe we will break 1100whp with this combo for under $13k https://www.edgyvette.com/product/ev...power-package/

I would like to give customers an option if others have had good luck with other, less expensive options. Our shop car will get a $3100 mantic triple but some may want a lower cost option such as the Monster 1500hp unit.

Again I'm asking for experienced opinions on high HP clutches other than Mantic. I did not post this thread to argue what is best. I need facts based on use.

If you have a C7 making 900-1100 and have a clutch that has held up well please chime in.

Cajun, I have used ram duals in the past. Using the full metallic linings (900series non organic) it will hold the power. The floater plate rattle at idle with the clutch depressed will have people looking at you at red lights. It’s bad,the other bad is that when heated, they are like an on/off switch rather than a variable-rate clutch. Fine for a road course or street (when you get used to it) but sux for drag race because you’ll need a LITTLE controlled slip launching. This thing would probably break parts, I know I broke plenty before I became the zo6 auto conversion prophet and guru.

I've been using Tilton Carbon Set ups. The Metallic Quad would probably do the job but even that'd come in above the mantic at around 3,500.

While we wanted to use the Mantic triple for our shop car because we trust the brand I also had to think about overall package price and wanted to use the same clutch in our car that we would sell with the package.

in the end we decided that even at the higher cost the mantic triple is the way to go for the EV1150 package on an M7 car. WHP/TQ numbers without clutch slipping coming soon!

Default Monster triple

I have used Mantic triple and it slipped I also did not like the release,I have used the rps triple terrible manors like an on off switch I have the monster triple organic it has great street Manors and I have beat the hell out of it on the track with over 100 runs it slips well on launch there are two downsides you need to manage the heat with the organic discs are a little slow shiftting with all the mass spinning.with nitrous I am at 1000rwtq.never has slipped it also has a very soft pedal so good street Manors.

Sincere thanks to all of you for the input and assistance. As long as this Mantic triple installs and holds up well we will plan to use this clutch for M7 cars that get our EV1150 package

Update

I could not be happier with this clutch! The mantic triple holds like a boss and then shifts are butter smooth. The pedal effort is LESS than stock!

No slip at all with no tire slip on a full length prepped track at FL2K last week. Car went 141-140-139mph in back to back runs in 3100 DA and with stage 3 rear spoiler.

This will be the ONLY clutch we offer for M7 cars with the EV1100 and EV1200 power packages. Thanks to Geoff at Mantic for super fast shipping, Mike at 360 customs for rushing our install so we could make FL2K and Chris at Crawford Racing for his constant support and tuning.
