Went from A8 C7 Z06 to M7...Anybody, FB Please
Hello fellow members!
I am currently in the market for another Z and had limited my search to an A8 since the one I had was soooo fast!.......10.50s at 133.xx with drop-in filter and PTB. However, recently, I drove an M7 and that thing pulled hard... sideways with traction control on! I drove this thing for about 10 miles and I am very impressed. My concern is when I take it to the 1/4 track, it runs 11.70s...that would make me sad. With this sad, please chime in if you made the switch from an A8 to a M7 and share your experiences, excitement or regrets.
Thanks in advance

Totaled an A8 and bought the exact same in M7 plus comp seats. I think the fun factor of the M7 outweighs all the positives of the A8, there is just no comparison. M7 gives you lot more control, however your hand will never be as fast as the A8, so if you live for the 1/4 then get the A8 otherwise M7 is the only way to go. Look at all the posts here.. I don't think I've ever seen an M7 owner go to an A8.

Both will have 800 plus hp really soon. The M7 with 800hp will decimate the stock A8 from the roll.

That's just it the A8 doesn't feel like a sports car like the M7 does.

the A8 has a very low 1st gear and launches hard which makes for great 1/4 mile times.
the M7 has a very tall 1st gear which slows it down off the line but also makes it harder to launch in the sweet spot between wheel spin and bogging.
once 1st gear is over in either car, the M7 is just way more fun to drive, the A8 either keeps the RPMs extremely low on the street or too high on the track. the A8 is probably the worst auto transmission on the market right now between the programming and the torque converter issues, etc, the A10 is a great replacement and huge step forward (love the one in my raptor) but too bad it doesn't seem to fit in the rear mounted corvette.
and yes, I have owned a 14 M7 stingray, 16 A8 Z06, and currently a 17 M7 Z06.

Sensation of speed is better in the M7 cars. But there is no speed or rpm from a hit that puts the M7 out front. Been discussed forever on here. Look up the ratio spread. The A8 has the M7 for acceleration. Period.

I love my M7, as far as the quarter mile I still need practice and seat time for 10's but definitely have the power. As far HWY pulls in Mexico I've taken down CTS' V's and anything else that has wanted some.
There is a C7Z06 1/4 mile times listing, that should be a good reference pint for everyone here.

Hey, thanks for the many replies! Man, you all make it hard to decide. That M7 I drove was really quick and sounded BA. Thanks again for the feedback.

The Z06 was the first of my many high-performance cars to have an automatic, and I'm not finding anything not to like about it. Sure, one needs to get used to it and learn how to use it, if all one has developed their high-performance skills on is a stick-yanker.

I like both the M7 and the A8 cars. The A8 works well and better with more use!
