Newton06: first I’m so glad you’re OK, and of course I’m sorry about your car. Also, even though I’ve run in the ‘solo’ groups for years, by hat’s off to you and your ‘kin’ for taking the time, and the risk, of instructing others in this incredible sport that we all love. I know it’s not easy.
Can you verify something for me: were you wearing a HANS with a 4/5/6 point belt system and ‘harness bar’, or one of the HANS type devices that can be worn with the OEM 3-point belts?
BTW: what kind of a;ignment were you running on the car?
Bish

I wear the Simpson Hybrid, and it is meant to be worn with the OEM 3-point (as my car was outfitted) or with a harness (which my car was to be/will be fitted with).
I had Mike Levitas' (DSC) track alignment.

Glad you're okay! Took some stones to stick with it all weekend. Hopefully there's not too much damage and you're back out there soon. Going tomorrow for Wed-Thu and just purchased insurance after reading this.

Good call on insurance.
Be very careful in 5b & 8a!

Sorry to hear. Sounds like you're handling it very well. I had the exact same thing happen to me in that section minus the carnage. Snap oversteer. I had a passenger too but was lucky enough to catch it. I've also seen two GT4s do the same thing so it's a tricky bit regardless of car.
Now that I'm putting it all together, were you at VIR with PCA over Labor Day? I think I remember seeing your car or one like it there. I was in the White Z07 #707.

^Yes sir.
Drove to Semora to save $15 on gas & wound up ruining a tire and ending my driving weekend.

Me too.
Allstate has been giving me the run-around in a big way.
Agent said I was covered when policy was issued.
Claims adjuster said I was covered this morning.
Claims adjuster calls back and says now I may not be covered.
<sigh>
Don't fool with regular auto insurance - go with Haggerty or Lockton...
Mea culpa.

Newton06, where did you receive burns from the airbags? I have been on the fence with the hybrid Hans but hearing that you feel it may have helped I may go ahead and buy one this winter. Glad to hear you didn’t get seriously hurt. Gm made plenty of z06’s to go around and god made only one of you.

The Hybrid HANS is a no-brainer for anyone interested in safety. I would imagine it won't be long before they become required safety equipment for HPDE's.

Sorry to hear about your trouble. I think I might take VIR off my bucket list although I know you're not totally safe at any track. Would anyone know if they raise your rates for track insurance after an incident and would it increase your street insurance rates?

An incident claimed on HPDE insurance has no bearing on your regular auto policy, and vice-versa (or so I believe).
They are separate & do not exchange loss data.
